As expected, the Xiaomi 15 series of phones has been officially revealed and although the wait continues for the exciting Ultra model, the Chinese firm has come up with one of the most ostentatious editions I have come across.
And I’m not even talking about the Rock Silver version of the Xiaomi 15 Pro, which features a stylish 3D water ripple effect. I am also not surprised by the Xiaomi 15 Custom Edition which is available in no less than 20 different colors.
It was the Xiaomi 15 Diamond Edition that really caught my attention. Brace yourself because this thing is crazy and no, this is not some sort of April Fool’s joke.
The Xiaomi 15 Diamond Edition is unlike any other phone I’ve seen in over 12 years of writing about mobile technology.
The camera module appears to have gone through Strictly Come Dancing’s hair and makeup department.
Instead of a glass back cover, it features crocodile grain leather in three different colors: Elephant Grey, Orange and Glacier White. Sure, I like orange, but why is there an elephant shade when it’s crocodile skin?
And that’s just to start…

The camera module looks like it’s been through Strictly Come Dancing’s hair and makeup department with its sparkly, dazzling style.
The icing on the cake here is a real 57-faceted diamond encrusted on the side next to an engraving of the words “Limited Edition”.
It’s crazy and I love it and hate it at the same time. I couldn’t bring myself to take it out of my pocket at the pub with my friends, or anywhere really, but part of me wants to do it for fun.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi doesn’t even charge that much for this, at 6,000 CNY, or around £650/$840 converted.
Unfortunately, my conflicted dream of a bling phone is unlikely to come true since this limited edition is only available in China and I’d bet it won’t launch anywhere else.
