A docking station, short for docking station, is a device used to extend the connectivity of another device. There are mainly those designed for laptops, but lately docks for the most popular portable consoles, like this one, have also been launched on the market.
The RGB dock for portable consoles with a discotheque feel
As we said, the manufacturer JSAUX has just announced the launch of an RGB dock specially designed to extend the connectivity of the most well-known portable consoles on the market, such as Valve’s Steam Deck, ASUS’ ROG Ally and Legion. Go..from Lenovo. It’s compatible with all of them interchangeably, so if you have more than one it will work with all of them.
The idea is that simply connecting a USB-C to the portable console gives you a myriad of additional connections, such as an HDMI video output, a wired LAN connection (RJ-45), multiple USB-Cs and many USB-A 3.0. In fact, the manufacturer offers this USB dock in two variants, one that offers 8 connection ports and another more advanced one that expands the number of ports to 12.
Why do you want a dock on your portable console? The idea is that you connect it to the device, then you can connect a monitor, mouse, keyboard to it and you can even connect it to your local network via cable to maximize the speed and stability of the Internet connection , allowing you to use the console as if it were practically a PC and thus, for example, play your favorite games with a keyboard and mouse and on a large screen.
In the case of the JSAUX RGB dock, as you can see in the images, it has the particularity of having a transparent plastic case, which increases the “disco” effect of its RGB lighting, located around the entire perimeter of the base. Unfortunately, the manufacturer hasn’t indicated whether this lighting is configurable or whether it can be disconnected, but the dock itself certainly looks pretty good.
Pricing and availability
As we mentioned above, JSAUX offers this new USB dock in two variants, one with 8 connection ports for $69.99 (although now that they’ve just launched it, it costs $49 for a limited time) and another with 12 ports, which are priced at $99.99 ($70 while the launch promotion lasts).
In Europe, we should soon find both versions on Amazon. Black case versions are currently available, but be careful as this is an older version and their HDMI output does not support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) or Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) technologies . We leave them here in case you are interested.
