Aside from Rostr's nostalgic update, Motorola has focused almost exclusively on budget phones since its acquisition of Lenovo in 2014.
The e6s sighted is taking this interest of affordable phones to the next level thanks to its modern model, the latest version of Android and only 109 euros of cost.
Although the e6 has been announced in India in September 2019, the call has taken several months to reach Europe, until the end of April 2020.
The question that this phone raises is the following: can a phone worth 100 euros provide a great experience or a great sacrifice to make it worthwhile?
Design and build quality
E6s are an expensive phone that tries to mimic the design of more expensive devices, and it still does a great job.
In fact, at first glance it is difficult to distinguish from Motorola One Macro, a phone worth 70 euros more at the time of writing this article.
It has a 6.1-inch LCD screen, with approximately 720×1560 resolution. At this price, the Full HD panel is still "good to have."
The simplest is to forgive the notch, which is mounted on a phone that already has visible size bezels. The phone still looks more modern than the iPhone SE's, but I wish they had made the smaller screen allowing for a more compact design. It has a 5 MP camera, but unfortunately it cannot be used to turn faces.
It's good news, though, that the built-in fingerprint scanner is fast and reliable, and I really like the way the logo is built. The power button is also sent for a nice touch.
Replacing the premium glass with an aluminum plastic frame can help reduce costs, but also make the phone last longer. Fingers aren't a problem, while at 160g it's lighter than most other devices.
The back of the phone is a refreshing break from the many sensors of most phones. There are only two here: The original 13MP dual lens with 2MP depth sensor for portrait-style shots. Later we will see how it works.
The most notable compromise – especially compared to the previous One Macro – is the use of Micro-USB instead of USB-C. However, no phone supports fast charging, and you'll have sensitive wires for both ports lying around.
The fact that this is one of the major design issues is talked about in price.
Hardware and performance
The E6s have a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, plus 2GB of RAM.
We didn't expect the Qualcomm processor to be here, but if you compare it it is thought of as a Snapdragon 625.
RAM would always win at this price, but I was impressed by how well the phone still handles this. Finding social media, managing emails, and using the web is cheap and easy, and many screens on the screen are impressive but limited on the same screen.
With so many entries in our superb box of expensive phones, we have compared the E6 and the rest Smartphones The batch we just reviewed.
However, this is a classic example that benchmarks do not always represent real-world operations. While not capable of handling solid game graphics, the E6s are extremely efficient for everyday use.
The thing is the E6s bike is battling for storage. Just transferring all the data from my old phone would completely fill its capacity, so I had to download the apps from scratch.
You will definitely want to use the MicroSD card slot for expandable storage, but I think 64GB should be the bare minimum for all phones today.
Software and tools
Moto's most expensive phones had previously struggled to compete with their Chinese counterparts on the page, but one area they could not beat software.
This same experience has been transferred to E6, even though it is on Android 9 Pie and not 10. The latest version update has not yet been confirmed, but is thought to be shipping via software written, I think it's impossible.
Also, you will still get regular security updates, and the features here make it a great choice for most people.
The user interface will be familiar to anyone using a Motorola phone in recent years, with only subtle "stock" Android configurations we see on Pixel phones.
That said, it's very small bloatware. Having just a photo gallery, a calendar app, and an email client is a refreshing change from many Android developers, who are forced to produce their own versions of already powerful workflows.
This is the skin so "clear" gives the E6 a sense of solidity, which is not possible for those phones. Motorola's few additions are intentional: Car Deeds offers a functional torch and camera shortcuts, as well as a new widget that takes you to three different apps depending on where you sell.
The Motorola is based primarily on the basics of a smartphone solid, and as a result there are only a few short features to report. As mentioned, the fingerprint sensor on the back is fast and reliable, which is good news if you think the only option is to turn on your phone.
The E6s come with a mono speaker on the back of the phone, unlike the standard grille below.
Unless the sound is firing away from you, it means that you are less likely to block out the sound and thus improve clarity. It has nothing to do with the quality of the audiophile, but it would be worth browsing for social interaction or playing some video. Fortunately, the 3.5mm headphone jack provides an easy way to stream audio information.
Cameras
The cameras are not limited to the phone's value at this price point, so it's probably understandable that they take a back seat on the E6.
However, we still have two rear cameras, with 12 MP wide lenses connected to 2 MP depth sensors.
Finally it means that the phone is able to take pictures of the interface, even though its use is not forgotten. The E6s fought hard to get the edge, even though I managed to get a good shot or two.
The main lens is very convenient for everyday photos. Planned shooting is pleasing to the eye, even if it has problems with wide range. As it is, I found it more appropriate for close-up topics than landscape photos.
5 MP Camera selfie It was a pleasant surprise, giving strong details throughout the entire episode. There was a general tendency to reveal the background, but the colors are perfectly accurate.
As for video, E6s are able to record 1080p video up to 30fps. Unfortunately, the lack of optical image stabilization means that the visual is unstable with any kind of motion, but with the extra hand you can get good clips.
I would suggest that you invest in something more professional if you take your picture seriously, but for the more avid users the camera is fine.
Drums
Moto E6s are a rare breed, with its 3000mAh battery, one of the few names on the market that are being phased out.
Decrease in battery life is one of the hallmarks of an old phone, so the fact that you can change it to a new one is clear. Motorola probably saw that they were not buying at this price point.
Out-of-the-box battery life is really solid, coming in at 8 hours and 41 minutes on a Geekbench battery test 4. It's a bit more than average, and with light usage you can even get two days. use.
However, lower costs mean there is no immediate charge of any kind, which means it has been able to charge 23% within 30 minutes from closing. Because of this, it's worth remembering that a full charge can take up to two hours. There is also no wireless charging, or that was unexpected on the phone at this price.
Average price performance
Moto E6s cost only 109 euros in Spain, purchased directly from Motorola. This selling price puts it in the middle Smartphones Very cheap, we have tried to discount everything that comes into our table of inexpensive phones.
This makes comparisons to phones like Realme 6 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S unrealistic. On the other hand, if you're willing to spend more, and you're interested in Motorola phones, you should take a look One Macro.
Simply put, E6s offer the best value for money, and it's unbelievable that you can get a phone with a capacity of less than 110 euros.
The decision
Having seen the amount of e6s bike, it's not hard to be impressed by what you get.
Operation, a place where inexpensive phones are often blurred, is very good. There was no need for Motorola to change what was now an official one software, while modern design does a good job of mimicking the most expensive phones.
The cameras are somehow lazy, but if you're willing to be patient you will be surprised. There are parts that have been sacrificed throughout the E6 car series, however, when you consider their price, it's easy to remember.
