The foldable mobile market continues to grow and it is expected that throughout this year several brands will renew their range and many more will be enticed to enter this growing market, as has been the case with Vivo.
It receives the name of Vivo X Fold, and inside it carries the processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so it does not skimp on performance. It also offers a good set of Carl Zeiss cameras, used in other high-end phones.
When will the new Vivo X Fold go on sale?
The company has officially launched the Vivo X Fold, its first foldable mobile, along with two other models such as the Vivo X Note and the Vivo Pad. Thus, the new folding X Fold will go on sale in China on April 22.
We don’t know if the marketing of the phone will be extended to the rest of the world at some point in 2022. As this is the brand’s first model, we don’t have any references that can orient us on the brand’s plans. . .
And it is that many of the phones that Vivo launches in China do not reach the rest of Asia, let alone the West. To make matters worse,
What is the price of the Vivo X Fold?
The Vivo X Fold was launched in China with two different configurations:
- Vivo X Fold with 12GB RAM + 256GB: 8,999 yen ($1,400/$1,300)

If we take a look at the rest of the models that are on the market, here is the current situation of the available models:
What’s new in the Vivo X Fold?
One of the key elements of any folding mobile is its hinge duration, for which Vivo got an aerospace-grade folding wing. This technology has been tested by TÜV Rheinland, observing not only the hinge but also the bend of the screen.
Both passed the test after being folded and unfolded over 300,000 times. According to the company, an average user will unfold and fold the device 80 times a day, which means that the vivo X Fold can be used without problems for the next 10 years.
The Vivo X Fold is a foldable phone that will rival the top end for features. At the center of everything we have the LTPO 3 AMOLED E5 folding screen of nothing more and nothing less than 8.03 inches compatible with 120 Hz frequencies.
It handles 1800 x 2200 resolutions and supports HDR10+ content display. It is made with ultra-thin glass, as Samsung also uses it in its Galaxy Z-Foldand has a fingerprint reader under the screen.
The hinge is said to be aircraft-grade and allows the Vivo X Fold to either lay flat or stay open at angles between 60 and 120 degrees. Outside, the 6.53-inch external screen is also AMOLED with a frequency of 120 Hz.
The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, accompanied by 12GB of RAM and a choice of 256 or 512GB of storage. Its battery reaches 4600 mAh, necessary to power the two screens of the device.
Fast charging is 66W while wireless is 50W, with a reverse wireless charging option to charge other devices like headphones at 10W speed.
The cameras are impressive, which isn’t surprising considering that’s one of Vivo’s strengths. The main camera uses a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor with f/1.8 aperture OIS.
It’s joined by a 12 MP f/2.4 camera with 2x zoom; an 8 MP 5x periscope zoom camera; and a 48 MPy f/2.2 ultra-wide camera. You’ll also find two punch-hole cameras in the d isplay to selfies
As with other recent Vivo flagships, the camera is branded Zeiss and supports a few Zeiss camera modes including Texture Portrait, Motion Capture 3.0, Zeiss Super Night Scene and Zeiss Nature Color.
