During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con with the cast and crew of The Boys, showrunner Eric Kripke announced a prequel to the superhero series titled Vought Rising.
The first spin-off of The Boys, Gen V, introduced viewers to a younger generation of superheroes attending the Vought-sponsored Godolkin University. However, the new series from the evil universe will show an older generation of superheroes operating decades before the era of Homelander and the Seven.
Eric Kripke created Vought Rising, but the showrunner is Paul Grellong, one of the executive producers of The Boys. Here’s everything we know about the series.
When will Vought Rising be released?
At this time, there is no information available on a potential release date for Vought Rising. The project is in early development, so it won’t be coming to Prime Video anytime soon.
Once we have a filming date, we’ll have a better idea of when it’s going to be released.
The Boys season 6 is estimated to release around summer 2026, so we imagine the prequel could also arrive in 2026, or late 2025 if we’re lucky.
What will be the plot of Vought Rising?
The new series will serve as a prequel to The Boys and will focus on Boy soldierplayed by Jensen Ackles. The events will take place in the 1950s, at the time of the glory of this superhero.
As Eric Kripke and Paul Grellong said in a statement:
We are thrilled to bring you the next twisted series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the evil machinations of a superhero known to fans as Stormfront, who was then known as Clara Vought. We can’t wait to blow your minds and unsettle your souls with this salacious and macabre saga drenched in blood and Compound V.
Soldier Boy was Vought’s first and most powerful superhero. Active primarily during the Cold War era, he led the superhero team called Payback. He disappeared after the military operati on in Nicaragua and was found by Butcher and his team in season 3 of The Boys.
Similar to Homelander, he publicly appeared as the perfect American hero, noble and courageous. In fact, he was aggressive, narcissistic and dangerous, which ultimately led to his downfall.
Soldier Boy made a cameo appearance at the end of The Boys season 4, teasing the superhero’s return in the show’s final season.
Another character that will be returning in Vought Rising will be the infamous Stormfront, aka Klara Risinger. The superheroine appeared in season 2 of The Boys as a new member of the Seven. She quickly gained a fan base due to her views on white supremacy and her strong presence on social media. Initially a rival of Homelander, she later became his lover and an ally.
It was later revealed that Stormfront, born in Germany in 1919, was a supporter of the Nazi party and the wife of scientist Frederick Vought, inventor of Compound V. She decided to take a dose of the substance and became the first known superhero.
At the end of World War II, Frederick and Klara emigrated to the United States, where the superhero operated under the alias Liberty. At one point, she met a soldier and formed a partnership with him – the secret gathering of superheroes, called Herogasm, was their invention.
Through Vought Rising, we will learn more about Stormfront and Soldier Boy’s past and relationship.
