What kind of keyboard is best to type quickly

keyboard, kind, quickly, type

On the market there are keys of all kinds: machines, threads, scissors … game keyboards, ergonomic keyboard, multimedia keyboards … but, what kind is better if what we're looking for is fast typing? Next we'll tell you what kind of moves and why, but that doesn't mean, of course, that any keyboard can be used for any purpose, that is, they are excellent key for fast typing doesn't mean you can't use them to play with them, for example.

The keyboard will allow you to type faster

Many users who use the keyboard to type prefer switches, and if possible Cherry MX Blue (with clever feedback and a clicking sound that will indicate the key is pressed) and, however, these type of keyboards are less suitable if what you want to write is faster.

Cherry MX Blue

If we want a keyboard to improve our typing speed, what we need that mobility is low preferably, because although this sometimes means that we make mistakes on voluntary pulling, in the medium term (when we are already practicing) they will allow us to improve with the speed at which we write. It's pretty fast typing, isn't it?

The types of keyboard that have this feature are two: those for scale change, and those for sweets Cherry MX Speed LP.

Scarf replacement

For this type of keyboards, a total displacement of 2 mm (sometimes small) instead of 3.5-4 mm for standard membrane keyboards, for example. Thanks to its final system such as a scarf, the key quickly returns to its position, which allows it to press it again very quickly. Moreover, as a general rule so we only need 30 grams of pressure to bring the key to the point of its action, which means they are easily suppressed and do not produce fatigue when they do so.

This is the reason why these types of keyboards are ideal for fast typing, although as we've explained before we need to be careful because of how easy they are to press buttons, and it's easy to make homemade buttons and make mistakes. It is, in any case, a matter of practice and a culture of improving typing speed, but in the medium term, if you want a keyboard to type faster, you won't regret choosing one with this type of switch.

Cherry MX Speed LP switch

The MX Speed Switch is famous for having their lowest launch speeds (1.2 mm) with a 3.4 mm key travel, and not until they introduced it (only with Corsair, of course) LP Type (Low Profile), which also reduces distances, because the activation point is only 1 mm and its total displacement is 3.2 mm.

It is true that the total displacement is greater than that of the modified type, but if we hold only 1 mm of space we will not force the key to unlock it. They need 45 grams of compression to be effective, which slightly increases the fatigue of use but, in retrospect, there are a few unrelated ones to make again we will make a few mistakes, and also reduce the time it will take to get used to it.

Our recommendation

Keeping in mind that what you need is a fast typing keyboard, our recommendation is a keyboard with type-changing features if you will only use typing. It's the keys that, at first, will cost you a bit to get used to, but if you've been with them for a few weeks you will notice that you no longer make mistakes and that your typing speed is too high.

If the use you give the keyboard is mixed rather, to use for typing but also for playing for other purposes, then we recommend a keyboard with MX Speed LP versions. In hindsight, the speed of writing will eventually outweigh the previous ones, with the luck that you will again make small mistakes due to the much-needed pressure, but mate that they produce more fatigue.

Everything has its pros and cons, and ultimately the choice is in your hands. What we are telling you is that if you want to write faster, one of these two options should be your last choice.
