Remember the sneaky ghost in the striped suit, full of corny slogans? If the answer is yes, watch out… because Beetlejuice is back! If the answer is no, you’ll have the chance to meet this gentleman with the dubious reputation this fall.
Beetlejuice is a 1988 horror comedy film directed by Tim Burton. It tells the story of a couple, Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam (Alec Baldwin), who die after moving into their dream home. Trapped in their old house as ghosts, they decide to get rid of the new owners, the Deetz family. Barbara and Adam hire a freelance bio-exorcist named Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton), who torments the living professionally.
Their plans didn’t go as planned, however, as the evil Betelgeuse caused chaos by trying to marry teenager Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder). While all of this supernatural mess was cleaned up, it will return in Beetlejuice 2 (also known as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice).
Here is the trailer for the movie:
Thirty-six years later, Tim Burton will summon an evil spirit, played once again by Michael Keaton. Lydia, played by Winona Ryder, will have to face the ghost, but she now has her own daughter, Astrid, a teenager played by Jenna Ortega.
Beetlejuice was a charming dark comedy with a gothic twist and Tim Burton’s trademark grotesqueness. But will the sequel be just as delightful? You’ll find out in theaters this fall.
