Ridley Scott’s bloody drama, set in the heart of the Roman Empire, is considered one of the best interpretations of the ancient world. While Gladiator may play with historical facts, it delivers a heartbreaking story, larger-than-life characters, and genuinely captivating spectacle (something Scott’s Napoleon film failed to do).
Almost twenty-five years after the film’s premiere, Scott will take viewers to the sandy arenas of Rome. In Gladiator 2, we won’t see Russell Crowe or Joaquin Phoenix, the stars of the original film. But don’t worry, they have worthy successors.
Paul Mescal will play Lucius, the now-grown nephew of Emperor Commodus from the original Gladiator. He will be joined by Pedro Pascal as General Marcus Acacius, Joseph Quinn as Emperor Geta, Fred Hechinger as Emperor Caracalla and Denzel Washington as Macrinus. Connie Nielsen will reprise the role of Lucius’ mother, Lucilla, while Derek Jacobi will once again play Senator Gracchus.

When will Gladiator 2 tickets go on sale?

Ridley Scott’s new film will be released in the UK on Friday 15th November 2024. The highly anticipated film is already creating quite a buzz, so tickets will likely be available to book at least a month before release day.

Gladiator 2 will be released in the United States on Friday, November 22, 2024. It will be one of the biggest premieres of this fall, but not the only one. The film will be in fierce competition with Wicked, which will be released in theaters on the same day.
According to Vanity Fair, this could create a situation similar to the Barbenheimer affair when the same release date for Barbie and Oppenheimer increases the hype for both films.
