Amazon has released a new updated Fire HD 8 which will go on sale in October. It’s much the same as the 2020 version, but with a faster processor, more powerful display and longer battery life.
It’s exactly the same as the previous model, comes in very similar colors and has the same screen and cameras. Improvements include a processor with two additional cores and it should be 30% faster. It uses stronger aluminosilicate glass and an extra hour of battery life (now up to 13 hours).
Storage options remain the same: 32GB and 64GB, as do 2MP front and rear cameras. All models have a microSD slot that lets you add up to 1TB of additional storage.

Launch: When will the new Amazon Fire HD 8 (2022) go on sale?
The 2022 model of the Amazon Fire HD 8 will go on sale soon October 19, 2022. The reservation period started on September 21, just the day the arrival of the latest generation was announced.
Price: How much will the new Amazon Fire HD 8 (2022) cost?
The new Amazon Fire HD 8 is expected to come in four different models, each with a different price tag:
- Amazon Fire HD 8 (32 GB, ad-supported): $114.99
- Amazon Fire HD 8 (64 GB, ad-supported): $144.99
- Amazon Fire HD 8 (32 GB, ad-free): TBC
- Amazon Fire HD 8 (64 GB, ad-free): TBC
Only the first two, ad-supported models, are now available for pre-order. Pricing is the same as the previous model when released in 2020.
On the other hand, in other markets, the Plus, Kids and Kids Pro versions will also go on sale.

As we said, the pre-sale period for the new Fire HD 8 is open, although shipments will not be made until it officially goes on sale next October.
