Where to place the subwoofer for a better sound

Place, sound, subwoofer

Sometimes physical conditions limit us so much that we can put a subwoofer on the sound system. Since they are big and heavy, they are difficult to have on the table or where they may sound better, so we'll start with the fact that if you don't have enough space to put them in the right place, you'll have to make room or hold and place where you can. We think, however, that before buying a sound system you have already taken into account that it will come with a larger subwoofer and that you have space to put it.

In any case, remember that the subwoofer is an essential component of sound systems. Not because it's the most powerful, but because it's responsible for returning serious sounds that provide depth and immersion of all kinds of sounds, no matter when we're playing, listening to music or watching a movie. If we use a sound system and do not plug the subwoofer, the sounds will look empty and out of depth.

Ideal location for a subwoofer

Appropriate placement depends on the conditions of the room where we will place it. This item is usually very powerful but it relies heavily on the reclining of the room we put in, the distance to the walls and the height to the roof, so it's not the same as setting it down than a PC desk.

We will usually get recommendations for positioning it in the same way as this image:

This picture is accurate, in proportion, because as it says depends on the condition of the room, and it has a significant effect on whether or not we place a piece of furniture.

In fact The ideal location for a subwoofer is located at the bottom and corner, but it leaves some distance to the walls that prevents the effect of duplication (and, most importantly, never touched anything else and reduced walls). This way you will use both walls to re-activate and thus increase the size of the sound, and increase (albeit smaller, the distance) through the roof.

If we want to put it in a piece of furniture, we have to be careful, because the subwoofer will make it rough and the sound will be distorted depending on the materials of the furniture mentioned and its durability. It is therefore important that if we want to (or should) place it on a piece of furniture, it is stable and durable, and we should avoid it as metal as possible. In addition, to do this it is recommended that the subwoofer has it rubber feet to absorb movement (and if you do not have one, it may be best to put rubber support for this purpose).

By all means and as we originally anticipated, it will depend heavily on the placement of the room where we are going to install it, so the best thing is usually to try different locations until you find a place where it sounds best.

A practical example is a Razer Leviathan, featuring a sound bar and a large subwoofer. The sound bar is placed under the monitor, and the best subwoofer sound is obtained by placing it between the monitor and the PC case, about 15 cm on the wall and 25 cm from the box. In this way, the PC case (with hot glass) acts as a wall, and the resulting bass effect is amazing. Also, even though it is on a table (of wood), it does not make any movement on it due to the rubber feet (unless we increase the volume until it reaches the top).
