Choosing the brand of components for your computer is not trivial. Since depending on our choice, we can find different qualities in its components, unequal performance with other computers with the same configuration and without forgetting the quality of the drivers. This time we will focus on a simple comparison between the ASUS and MSI motherboards. Which is the better brand of the two today?
At first glance, motherboards from different manufacturers may look the same, all from the same family use the same chipset and have similar specifications. This is when knowing how to make the right choice is important, because not all brands work with the same qualities or with the same support. So let’s see how two of the most well-known brands in the world of computer components compare.
ASUS vs. MSI on motherboards
First of all, we must clarify that this is not a massive comparison between different motherboard models, as there will be models from one brand that will be superior to their rivals from the other and vice versa. Instead, we decided to take a series of generalities that we could observe to get an overall idea of how ASUS and MSI motherboards compare.
Material quality
For some time now, we have noticed that the quality of the materials used by MSI is decreasing, while those of ASUS maintain their usual standards. Both have an upgrade range, but it’s a shame the three-letter brand rested on its laurels here. What does it affect? Well, in things like overclocking, where to place the various parts at extreme levels of performance and power consumption puts a strain on the materials they are made with. Also, MSI generally gives less warranty time than ASUS, which should indicate where the shots go.
Software
The other problem is the software, ASUS is superior to MSI in this case again and not for this reason the second is worse, but it puts less interest in it and it shows in the quality of its drivers, as well as the different utilities that they offer. So that’s another one of the pending issues that they have to resolve. However, unlike ASUS, it must be said that some of its motherboard models are expensive for what they offer to the end user.
What we would like is for MSI to improve its qualities, it would be good for everyone. Often when we look at the specifications of a hardware product, they are too general and we cannot know which is the best. It’s only when you take it out of the box and compare it to others of a similar nature that the qualities of each jump out.
