This year is more important than it seems because almost 30 years after the birth of the most successful football game saga in history, we will say goodbye to Fifa to welcome EA Sports FC. The alternative which promises to be the same dog but with a different collar and which, even so, will have to be measured from September on the same ground as the old saga did.
The fact is that it is obvious that this transition will cause dizziness in the offices of EA Sports because changing the brand so radically poses an obvious risk to the stability of the entire ecosystem. Anyone who thinks that North Americans don’t keep the fear of a possible cataclysm in their innermost offices is that they haven’t faced an empty corporation that comes their way when they decide to take such a step. Voluntary or not.
And the person responsible for verbalizing this path forged by EA Sports is David Jackson, vice president of Electronic Arts’ own sports game brand who, in The Mirror newspaper, proclaimed the optimism that reigns within the team responsible for leading this transition: “There is enormous energy in all our studios, around the world, to achieve the goal that we know we have set for ourselves with this new brand.
burning nail
For David, it is obvious that “EA Sports FC This is our vision of the future. I believe that We have done a very good job and we have established a great relationship over time with the FIFA organization itself, but now is the right time for us to chart a new course and draw our roadmap, to be able to meet players’ expectations where they happen, and we think we can do better through the lens of our own platform.
What the Vice President himself does not say is that a game without FIFA branding will be cheaper first as they don’t have to pay as the logo of the organization that commands the football can be seen on the cover of the development itself. Perhaps for this reason, he asserts that it is “a change of mentality for us. Now, we think very broadly about opportunities. And in areas where we would like to create fan experiences in the future. We are very confident in what we will be able to launch in the market this year.”
What areas will they cover?
Thus, for Jackson there are two elements which are fundamental and which directly affect players Fifa. The first is “authenticity. We have 19,000 players, 700 teams and 30 leagues in play right now. This authenticity is essential for an experience EA Sports and will continue to be in the future.” And the other is that it will be “super important to us innovation and our ability to be able to create new and engaging experiences that fans tell us they expect from us at EA”.
So things, as we put it to you at the beginning, no one expects drastic changes. Just the game logo itself and nothing else. The rest will remain a game of Fifa of all life alone which will take the name of EA Sports FC. Or do you not believe it will be so?
