This is especially important, as it comes just a day before Samsung unveiled its tech take on the Galaxy Z Fold 3, giving us a surprising one-on-one between two of the world’s biggest phone companies.
Even so, the Mi Mix 4 has much more than this camera. Here’s everything you need to know about Xiaomi’s new flagship, including if – and when – it might launch in the West.
When is the Mi Mix 4 released?
Xiaomi has already unveiled the Mi Mix 4, along with the Mi Pad 5 tablet, at a launch event in China on August 10.
What we don’t know is if or when the phone will launch outside of China. The Mi Mix 3 and Mi Mix 3 5G took around three months to arrive in Europe after their China launches, which gives hope that the Mi Mix 4 will arrive here at some point, but on the other hand the latest Mi Mix Fold does not. shouldn’t happen in Europe at all.
Of course, more Xiaomi phones are in the works, so be sure to check out our roundup of the latest Mi 12 news and rumors for more information on Xiaomi’s next flagship.
How much will the Mi Mix 4 cost?
In China, the Mi Mix 4 starts at 4,999 yen for the 8/128 GB model, and goes up to 6,299 yen for the high-end 12/512 GB version, which means it is still slightly cheaper than the Mi 11. Ultra, which started at 5,999 yen when it launched earlier this year.
The price of the Mi Mix 4 translates to a starting price of around $ 550, which goes all the way up to $ 700 for the top-of-the-line model, although if the phone is launched in the West, it will likely cost more than that.

What are the specifications of the Mi Mix 4?
Let’s break down the Mi Mix 4 a bit.
First of all, the phone is available in white, black or gray ceramic. The unibody ceramic finish is said to have helped reduce the weight by 30%, although despite that, it’s still a heavy phone at 225g, albeit surprisingly thin at 8mm thick.
Inside, it features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processor, an upgraded version of the flagship 888, which has also been confirmed to appear on the Honor Magic 3.
It comes with a choice of 8 or 12 GB of DDR5 RAM and 128, 256 or 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage – and naturally supports 5G connections.
The additional connectivity comes from ultra-wideband technology. This technology, which is also found in the Samsung S21 Ultra, allows the phone to be located much more precisely and also allows more precise control of other devices, such as a TV.
The display is a 6.67-inch FHD + OLED display with curved glass and supporting refresh rates up to 120Hz, making it the best option aside from deciding not to go for a higher resolution panel. It is coated with Gorilla Glass Victus, the highest level of protection available today.
Of course, there’s more to this panel than pure specs: there’s the secret weapon of an under-screen camera, or Camera Under Panel (CUP) to use Xiaomi’s name for the technology. The Mi Mix 4’s 20 MP selfie camera is integrated into the display, so most of the time you have an uninterrupted screen, and the camera only appears when you want to use it – the same technology we saw on the ZTE Axon 20. year, and which we will see in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.
The big question here is about the quality. With this technology in its infancy, results so far have been mixed, both in terms of the screen’s ability to hide the camera when not in use and in terms of camera operation. itself when you need it for taking photos or video calls. it must be able to film through the “micro-diamond” pixels of the screen.
At least the rear camera setup should be downright impressive, with no hint of the additional rear screen for selfies seen on the Mi 11 Ultra. Instead, you’ll just get a 108 MP main camera with OIS, a 5x optical zoom periscope lens, and a 13 MP ultra-wide shooter.
Finally, the battery and charge also stand out. The Mi Mix 4 comes with 120W fast wired charging, which can fill 4500mAh in just 21 minutes in default mode (which limits temperatures to 37 ° C, or 15 minutes in faster boost mode.
Also included is 50W wireless charging, which can provide a full charge in 45 minutes by default, or just 28 minutes if you don’t mind letting the phone get hotter.
