Although many streamers (and more types of users) use a setup of dual PC for his broadcasts, he was the famous Xokas who made himself known by boasting of his Double PC for more than 8,000 dollars which integrates two PCs in the same case. However, in reality, it’s not complicated at all to do (you don’t need a systems engineer to design and assemble it in any way) and, if you want, you can have it yourself -even at home. We tell you everything.
You should know that there are many boxes on the market ready to mount a double PC inside, and in some cases they also make our task easier because some manufacturers even have power supplies prepared to power two PCs at the same time . As you will see below, the only limitation is actually the estimate what to invest in…
How to build a dual PC system?
As we mentioned a moment ago, you don’t need to be an engineer or do anything special to build a dual PC, you just need to invest the necessary money in components designed to be able to build two PCs inside; Now, you should know that in all cases, one of the PCs can have a normal ATX format or even E-ATX in certain cases, but the second PC must have a mini ITX format.
As you can imagine, the first requirement is to have a case that supports the installation of two motherboardsand the second factor is that generally you will need to power both systems with the same Power source; This means that the PSU not only needs to be powered for both systems, but you’ll also need enough cabling for them, and most PSUs only have a 24-pin ATX cable. Fortunately, there are adapters that you will need to purchase separately, or you will need to purchase a source already prepared for this, like the Phanteks Revolt X.
The third point to consider is that normally in cases that support two motherboards, the installation point of the mini ITX card is on the ceiling, which means that it is at a 90 degree angle to the the main map. This may mean that you have limited space to install your cooler, which is why it is advisable to use AIO liquid cooling systems for both.
Then the assembly is not too mysterious, you will just have to assemble, connect and channel the cables of the two systems. It’s more work and a bit more laborious, but something that isn’t complicated at all unless you get involved in setting up a custom liquid cooling system shared between the two PCs.
Compatible cases to build your own dual PC
The downside of wanting to build two PCs in the same case is that you’ll have to invest a lot of money into it, as only the larger, more high-end ones support it without having to make any physical modifications to it. However, there are some models you could buy that would allow you to have a dual PC like the Xokas because, as we said at the beginning, the only limit is your budget.
Below we will give you some examples of cases that natively support a dual PC configuration inside, but be aware that there are many others on the market, so it is simply a matter of finding out a little. and explore options.
We start with the Corsair Obsidian 1000D, a real monster and Corsair’s high-end case, this is precisely what the Xokas uses in its dual system. This is a huge case that allows you to install 480mm long radiators or, to give you an idea, it supports 8 fans only on the front. Great but it costs a lot of money.
The box which is surely simpler and at the same time economical but which leaves us less space to install the double material inside is the Phantekx Enthoo Evolva box that has a fairly conventional size but its interior is deceptive and leaves us a lot of space.
Another example of a “monstrously large” box is the Thermaltake Core W200, a Full Tower format box that even comes with wheels so you can move it because it weighs a lot even empty (imagine with two full PCs inside). It’s also one of the most expensive boxes you can buy today.
