ASUS’ response to the launch of the Steam Deck was the ROG Ally, a console that, unlike the Valve model, is managed by Windows 11, offering a wider range of options to enjoy any game from no matter which store, a limitation that we can only overcome in the Steam bridge install Windows in addition to SteamOS.
Inside the ASUS model, we find the Ryzen Z1 processor (just like in the portable console Lenovo Legion GO), a processor that had not yet caught the attention of AMD and ASUS when updates were released to support AMD Fluid Motion Frames, better known as AFMF on computers from desktop and laptops.
While it is true that drivers adapted by more experienced users can be installed, this is not the best option since it is not a matter of official driverswhose development corresponds, in this specific case, to ASUS.
Fortunately, although later than expected, ASUS has just released a new update for the ROG Ally, an update that includes support for AFMF to get the most out of the processor and enjoy a number higher FPS.
This is undoubtedly excellent news for owners of this console since it allows you to take advantage of the 120 Hz refresh rate of the screen of this model.
How to install the latest update
Firstly, since the update is already available, when we turn on the device, a notification should appear telling us the availability of the update. But, otherwise, you have to access the Update Center and wait for the updates to appear, which, in this specific case, correspond to Armory Crate (ACSE) and the integrated graphics as we can see in the next image.
What the update includes
As we can read in the update details, the best ones related to Armory Crate They allow you to access the library of games we have installed more quickly. Additionally, information has been added to the performance information displayed when using AFMF.
With this new update, the functions available to remap console buttons have been expanded. ASUS took the opportunity to address a sporadic issue that was causing longer wait times when accessing integrated graphics driver updates.
Regarding the update of the integrated graphics, As we mentioned above, compatibility with AMD Smooth Motion Frames and a compatibility issue with the Final Fantasy X game that caused some textures to become invisible has been fixed.
As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, the Lenovo Legion Go console is the other portable console model that also uses this controller, however, at the moment it has not released an update to offer AFMF on his device, although it should not take much time if you want users who have opted for this model to continue to recommend it without hesitation.
