For many weeks after studios begin releasing their tent-release dates, the movie industry continues to change due to the ongoing epidemic of coronavirus. Last week there was a major outbreak, as CEO of NCBUniversal Comment by Jeff Shell about direct VOD output of Trolls 2 it has led to the chains of AMC and Regal announcing that they will block Universal films from their theaters.
For now, though, VOD and streaming are the best way to catch up on new movies. This week's most recent films ranged from indie to blockbusters that came out just before the movie theaters closed. There is Assistant, Kitty Green's feature about the riots that led to the #MeToo movement; Picture, romance between Issa Rae and Lake Stanfield; Deerskin, a unique film – and surprisingly entertaining – a railroad film that seems to have supernatural powers; and more.

Kit Green's follow-up to the Netflix documentary It puts JonBenét – and his first feature in the history of features – Assistant, a picture of the atrocities in the film industry and what made such a corruption of power possible. It's an amazing film, as we wrote our review here:
There The #MeToo movement they have begun to invite women to share their stories of sexual harassment and abuse, the number and scope of the news seems less appealing. It was hard to accept that the misconduct and cover-up may have continued for so long. Kit Green's film Assistant he focuses on that thread with a focus on the filmmaker's assistant who begins to worry about the toxic behavior around him. In contrast Bombshell, which looked at the sexual harassment allegations against Fox News & # 39; Roger Ailes, Assistant played perfectly straight. With a focus on one-day events and the experience of one of their characters, Green effectively captures the cause of acting in such a brutal environment. No anointing is required.

Deerskin
Where to watch: Available through local theaters & # 39; real cinema collaboration
French jokes are black Deerskin, starred ArtistJean Dujardin, is one of the most unique films in recent memory. Here is our review from Cannes last year:
To get an idea of how unique a French film is Deerskin a look at the official synopsis: "Georges, 44, and his jersey, 100% deerskin, have a plan." Strange line ready for a new black comedy from Quentin Dupieux (The truth, Rubber aka the killer tire movie), which stars ArtistJean dujardin as Georges. The film is small in every sense of the word – during the performance (the 77-minute clock), in the actors (Dujardin and Adèle Haenel playing the only main characters), and in a sense (the jacket is the thing) – and manages to climb to the best level of camaraderie. That means Deerskin is screening as part of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival directors' nominations, which feature a side from the "most respected" competition, and play at home Mandy and The climax last year.

Black and Blue It stars Naomie Harris as a military commander who returns to her homeland as a police officer, and is drawn to a fake web site where she catches the murder of a young drug dealer in her body. When Maya Phillips wrote about police brutality in Polgon's film, she touched on the themes and themes of Black and Blue:
In Black and Blue, Alicia was charged with the murder of a black male police officer, followed by police and members of the black community. The movie doesn't go crazy; Alicia worries, the 108-minute ordeal is shaped by characters trying to force her into one camp or another. Some black characters call him Uncle Tom, and another officer asks him, “Do you think they are your people? … You are blue now. ”Nexus Alicia’s argument is not that she witnessed the crime, but refuses to choose between her identity as a black woman and her position with the police. In the end, his devotion to the truth saves him, so he should not choose. He can remain part of his community while maintaining his reputation as a police officer.

Poor Education
Where to watch: Catch it on HBO Now, HBO Go, and Amazon Prime Video
Screen for Poor Education is based on events at Roslyn High School when writer Mike Makowsky was a student there, which is a low-cost way to save his school and make his school district one of the best in the country. Hugh Jackman stars as Tassone, with Allison Janney, Ray Romano, and Geraldine Viswanathan filling the remainder of the cast. In our review, Tasha Robinson praised Jackman for reinforcing the appropriate drama:
The film relies heavily on Jackman's talent aspect of managing not just the story, but the tone. Frank is listed as a well-to-do boss who takes pride in knowing everything about his people – not just the names of the parents of the schoolchildren, but their affiliates, what hobbies they like, and so on. But they rarely come out as a fat seller. Jackman often performs large and wide-ranging works, whether he plays the Wolverine antithing hero in various X-Men movies, or hits Broadway-style stores or similar music. The Greatest Exhibition
and Les Misérables. Here, he is a very large, intelligent but seemingly straightforward personality who has attained his precise level, and has an effective record of proving that. He is a lovely, award-winning director who seems to care about the people around him, and Jackman sells the integrity, and the idea of something underneath.
