We’re a few weeks away from that now The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releaseNintendo’s long-awaited sequel to its groundbreaking adventure, breath of the wild. While the Japanese company has presented its latest trailer for Link’s upcoming rompit is certainly not done marketing the Switch exclusive. You may have seen some of the new TV trailers for Tears of the Kingdom?
On Wednesday, Nintendo cranked up its hype machine a bit more with a long run of previews that gave the releases around two hours of gameplay.
Here are some of the highlights in list form.
- The first thing you should know is this DeadK sounds challenging, just like its predecessor. Accordingly metroPReview players apparently received extra health to experience the starting area in the sky but were still having issues. It probably didn’t help as The edge Remarksthey started with weak weapons and a master sword that was in bad shape.
- At the same time, previews highlighted this Tears of the Kingdom has a great sense of physical comedy. yes the game allows you to fuse weapons and shields with a variety of materials, and you can build godless vehicles that make Ganon run on sight. But it sounds like this is Fuck Around and Find Out: The Game. IGN

- Experimentation is the name of the game, and previews cited a variety of combinations you’ll see DeadK starts next month. The guardLike almost everyone else, he glued a missile to a mine cart. Some people tried missiles on shields, bombs on shields, flamethrower missiles, and rocket spears flying at their enemies. My favorite story was probably igamesnews often seeing that giant spiked ball seen in pre-release screenshots He demonstrates Link’s time-consuming recall ability, but instead they choose to fuse it with a spear. I’m not even sure how Link can hold up this monstrosity!
- many previews, like this one from, oh, axios, found that merging had some cumbersome controls, although it yielded some satisfying results in the end. Luckily though Tears of the Kingdom lets you save blueprints so you only have to do it once before summoning it again. Provided you have the right materials, of course.
- Does all this sound exhausting or intimidating? I’ve definitely heard from some that they’re not really looking forward to all this merging nonsense and that they just want a Zelda game (whatever that means.) But The guard conditions that you can actually ignore everything I just described and play the game normally as you would any other zelda Title. You just won’t see some of the possibilities Nintendo has hidden in the game, and that’s okay: you might just want to kill (or kiss
How large is Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
- One exciting element hinted at in various previews is the scope of the game. Nobody could see the whole tears of kingdom, But CNET notes that the distance is viewed from above in the sky made the world seem almost “infinite” and “dizzying”. Similar, VG24/7 claims that the preview gave them a frightening sense of “expansiveness and almost endless exploration.” You can bypass this huge open space with a medallion that you put down and teleport to later.
- Now that you’re feeling hopeful, it’s time to get you down to earth with some information about the Weapon Break. We already knew it was back, and The edge says that weapons still look very brittle Tears of the Kingdom. However, offsets merges Zelda’s degradation mechanics a little bit. Even something as simple as squeezing a mushroom into your shield could make it “immensely” more durable.
- Another sobering thing worth noting: while each preview seems to have a different experience with it, it seems that for some, Tears of the Kingdom does not deliver consistent performance. The second video in Those of The Verge The description shows some pretty significant pop-ins and stuttering as Link levitates through the air, something you’ll probably do a lot. As we wrote earlier today Zelda: Tears of the KingdomThe performance of sounds mixed.
Some of the most exciting things about Tears of the Kingdom
- Still, there are other things to look forward to: like new mechanics and items! Nintendo life says that We can expect a new material called Muddlebuds that can confuse and infuriate enemies and something called Dazzlefruit that will blind them. Other previews clarified that the new materials used in crafting are Zonai Artifacts that you can grab from Zelda’s new gacha-like mechanics. These materials can be used once during crafting. Everything seems designed to force you to make decisions about when and where you use things. For example, while you can build cars and airplanes, they are all powered by Zonai Batteries, which can run out after a few minutes.

- The telegraph says Nintendo would not confirm If batteries were something you could upgrade, but just like parts dropped by Guardians, Zonai enemies will also provide materials. However, not all Zonai “rangers” are immediately hostile. Who are the Zonai and what do they want??!
- And finally, one of the things that struck me the most about the previews I browsed today come out from Nintendo life. While we don’t yet know if this game will have dungeons or shrines, it seems the overworld itself is far more satisfying to explore. Things that would normally have been puzzles hidden in a shrine now just lie around waiting to be found – which in turn makes the world seem more alive.
So what are you looking forward to so far? What are you worried about?
