Public outreach is not an individual experience (even if it is for you, we did a list of games that can help with that). Some of us live with a partner, roommate, or other person who plays an important role in our lives. It is important to make time for this spend together– Without clapping – we made a list of two players' games to feel together.
This is the second in a series where I will be working board games and tabletop games for people to try at home. We started with it one-friendly games (sometimes called solo or "solitaire play" games); we are now in a pair of playgrounds, and we will finish with some unique family designs. I suggest a combination of virtual games and digital versions – Steam versions of existing games, or various RPG PDFs – for people looking for options that don't include home delivery.
I've also highlighted the game developers' websites for shopping at big box stores and Amazon, except that that option is not available, but be sure to contact potential sellers for their delivery conditions. Amazon has been experiencing significant delays due to high demand, so that's something to consider when making purchasing decisions.
Board and Card Games
7 Wonders Duel
7 Wonders Duel two-player version 7 Miracles, is a card game in which players face each other as opposing civilizations trying to grow and maximize their power. Over the course of three years, players build buildings and wonders, working to achieve scientific power, military power, or civic growth. For those who want to increase the difficulty there are Pantheon
Codenames Duet
Codenames Duet, from the Czech Games Edition, another two-player version of the popular game. In contrast Codes, where teams face each other, Codenames Duet is a cooperative game where each player is a secret ally who tries to help others get in touch with many of his teammates – hiding under name cards – while trying to avoid the killing of bad guys. Each player knows how the other agents can communicate securely, so they should provide one-word references to help them find the right words. Codenames Duet it costs about $ 20 and is available in a few stores like Target and Barnes and Noble.
The Fog of Love
I highlighted this game in my previous post Valentine's Day playlist, but I pull it off because it's worth a try. In this two-person play, each person is half of a loving couple who has to go through the trials and tribulations of the relationship (you don't have to be in a relationship with another player to try that, it's nice to have a roommate). It plays like a romantic joke, but don't expect it to be all game and fantasy. This one will challenge you. It is good for a long night of communication and compassion – given how weak we all are, sometimes we need a good emotional release. The Fog of Love costs $ 50 and is available at the company website. Also, to help out stores with the covid-19 epidemic, Hush Hush Projects donates 20 percent of all the money sold to local sports stores – which you just need to tell them which one you would like to spend.
Patchwork
This is perfect for these times when you want to exercise your brain but in a calm way. Patchwork is a two-player game where players work to create beautiful quilts, putting together a combination of different tiles and buttons to remove as many of their pieces as possible. Set in the world of Arcane Wonders & # 39; Mage Wars Franchise, Mage Wars Arena is a fighting game in pairs where two powerful mages face each other in deadly combat. The Mage Wars Arena costs $ 60 and is available at Arcane Wonders & # 39; website; and there are plenty of extensions for those who want to expand their gameplay even further.
The Forbidden Desert
Each one Banned The games are good with two players, but I decided to highlight The Forbidden Desert because it's the one my husband and I play the most together (probably including another game in my upcoming "Family Games" series). To me, The Forbidden Desert is the most terrifying game in the series so far. Players arrive deep into the desert and have to dig in the sand to find the missing pieces in their soul. The only problem is that the storm continues to make, sowing chaos and burying everything in the sand section. It's a great team-building exercise, but I recommend starting with a simple one. It's easier to get lost than you think. The Forbidden Desert costs $ 27 and is available on Gamewright & # 39; s website.
The fox in the Forest
The fox in the Forest from Renegade Game Studios is a two-player card game set in a forest built where players try to trick each other. But you have to realize how often you try to win, because doing too many tricks can eventually work for you. It has great animation and is a great quick game to help pass the time. Be prepared to face your opponent often. The fox in the Forest
Duet, which is a cooperative version where two players work together to form tactics. That version is on sale for $ 12, and at Renegade & # 39; s website.
Digital RPGs
Cthulhu's secret
If you ask anyone to share their favorite two-player games, Cthulhu's secret is usually at the top of the list. This game from Pelgrane Press is designed for one player and one GM using the popular Gumshoe One-2-One system, which can be adapted for use in other games (I included earlier Scarlet Heroes for this list for the same reason but chose to delete it more presentation concerns). Cthulhu's secret features three times, each with its own protagonist, as players take on the role of investigators trying to reach the bottom of a crowded city street to find the mysterious truth that becomes less. The game is available as a PDF $ 25 on DriveThruRPG.
Fate & # 39; s Fickle Winds
In Fate & # 39; s Fickle Winds, designed by Nathan D. Paoletta, are two players – one for Good and the other for Blight of Wvil. Players are looking for "Winds of Magic" cards to further their agenda, as each of them tries to carry a prophecy that "forecasts the end of the world." The length of the game does not require prep (except for some print-and-play cards, which you can write manually if you do not have a printer) and play time is changed based on schedule. Fate & # 39; s Fickle Winds available on itch.io and is based on donations.
Grave News
Grave News from Spectrum Games is kind of like live horror comics. Using one player and one GM, the game features players creating a scary anthology-story hority series, like Myths from the Crypt either The Twilight Zone. Players are rewarded for making this story more interesting than just staying alive, so be prepared to get creative. Stores From the Funeral Home available as PDF for $ 10 on DriveThruRPG.
Employer and Troll
This is a simple action game designed for those times with 30 minutes to kill. Banshee Game Foundation & # 39; Employer and Troll is simple: One person is a player, and the other is a figure under the bridge. The giant and the bully try to negotiate a crossing that does not involve one of them being killed by another, sharing stories and answering questions to establish trust.
