The Nintendo Switch certainly feels like its time is coming to an end. Six years old this year, it was already a technological generation behind when it was released, and there’s no question that it’s increasingly having trouble running the games it hosts. Despite all of this, and despite the rise of the Steam Deck, there’s nothing quite like it out there. It still feels like a must-have device, and 2023 has all sorts of reasons why you’d want to keep your device charged and ready.

Like so many Nintendo handhelds and consoles before it, the Switch feels unique in a cross-platform market, with its particular ability to be both a handheld and a console a big contributor to that. But it’s also because there’s a type of game that just feels right on a Nintendo device, hard to pin down rationally, but we all know it when we see it. And 2023 is already proving to be packed with such games.

Who knows what surprises Nintendo has in store for 2023 – it’s the kind of Bizarro company that will announce and release a big entry into a popular franchise with about a ten-minute lead time – and there’s every chance we’ll hear of a sequel learn -up console as soon as we see zelda Tears of the Kingdom in May. But below is a collection of games we do know come this year or at least have very good reason to expect. And no, we didn’t bother with the listing Metroid Prime 4.

To avoid confusion, this is certainly not a complete list of upcoming Switch games, but rather a selection of a few select games to look forward to. Also, this list is intentionally console exclusive, meaning games that will be released either exclusively on the Switch or only on Switch and PC.
