Last year, the annual Academy Awards event continued without the host for the first time since 1989. The decision, which appeared a month before the actual ceremony, is shocking, since the opening talks for the entrants and the rest of the night were often described as a great night's compilation. But last year's awards ceremony went on without much beating, and it seems that it is enough for the success of this year's Oscars to continue without a host.
The 92nd Academy event was unlocked as Janelle Monáe wore a Mister Rogers dress, pulling the crowd together with "Will You Be My Neighbor?" Murphy in the middle Dolemite My Name to Joaquin Phoenix at Joker – accompanied by Billy Porter. Monáe also called out troublemaking female directors, as well as the fact that Black History Month.
The number ended with low cost and high-power, which served to emphasize why a lack of a host would be a good thing. Bits just aren't always needed! Steve Martin and Chris Rock gave the opening speech, giving a brief speech about their past Oscar play (and referring to the new movement as "democratic") and asked: "Why are they no longer broadcasting?"
