Steam sales are now so common that there are concerns that they will soon collide with each other, causing huge stacks of sales that could clog up large parts of the internet. However, among the incessant discounts on The witcher 3 appears something far more interesting than most: Mystery Fest. It runs from today until the 27th and we’ve picked some of the most interesting games for you.
The reason I’m emphasizing this isn’t because I was suddenly possessed by the spooky powers of Kinja Deals, but because I love how many fantastic yet criminally underrated indie games there are here. So I took a look and picked out a few real highlights that you can now get at a reduced price.
And yes, certainly the term “mystery” is pathetically unspecific to the point of implying some sort of psychological horror, but I’ve tried to stick with what it should be: investigative games.
Frog detective 3
Grace Bruxners Frog Detective Series is a matter of unalloyed joy. All three games are wonderfully silly, huggably adorable games about being a…frog detective and will consistently put a silly smile on your face. The third and most recent (out October of last year) shifts things to a wild west setting and concludes the trilogy.
For now you should grab all three in a bundleassuming it costs you just over $13 for the lot.
The past inside
The Rusty Lake Games has been one of the most consistently fantastic game series over the last eight years, and absolutely everything that the developers of the same name have come out is worth your attention. your latest is The past inside, a co-op game that relies on two people playing at the same time (well, two different times, actually) to solve its puzzles. It’s a third less now, just four dollars.
The case of the golden idol
If you are a fan of games such as work Dinnthen you would do well to look at the extraordinary The case of the golden idol
Norco
One of the best games of 2022, Norco Received much deserved recognition when it came to year-end awards, but always deserves more attention. Old-school point-and-click adventures can sell hard in these modern times, however Norco is a reason to discard such prejudices. This mystery adventure is an amazing portrayal of the Louisiana wetlands, with exceptionally good writing and art. Exceptional is also the discount for this week, down a whopping 45% to $8.
Silicone Dreams
A grossly overlooked and absolutely brilliant game, Silicone Dreams is a cross between Bladerunner And papers pleasea game in which you interrogate suspects to determine if they are human or villains Android. As an android you can choose many different ethical paths that will dramatically change the outcome of the story. While it certainly lacks presentation, believe me this game is so worth your time and now 30% cheaper.
The flower collectors
I have to admit, to my chagrin, that until I played The flower collectors I had no idea of the turmoil Europe experienced in the second half of the 1970s as it emerged from 40 years of fascist rule. What this crime thriller adventure represents so extraordinarily good is the role that artists, poets and intellectuals played in the transition period as they fought against traces of nationalism.
You also play a retired police officer who solves a murder from his apartment window. It’s just so impressive how he manages to deliver a compelling murder mystery while asking difficult questions about the potential benefits of terrorismfiinto society. You can find out for yourself half price this week.
Tangle tower
Oh my god I adore Tangle tower. This is one of the best games you’ve never heard of, featuring some of the best and funniest lyrics you’ll find in gaming. It’s a crime thriller that’s genuinely intriguing, packed with twists and turns and, quite crucially, crammed with excellent puzzles.
I ask you to try this game. There is so much of it and every bit is stunning and it breaks my heart that you may never have heard of it let alone played it. And Mystery Fest is 75% off for just $5! JUST UNDERSTAND IT!
