When Fire ring First released in early 2022, many people swore it was the hardest game ever made, although others claimed it was more accessible than previous From Software titles, as players could continue to explore the game and get strong elsewhere if they ever hit a wall. In defense of the former, it does offer some of the toughest boss fights I have ever experienced. On the other hand, I always had the feeling Fire ring was a pretty malleable experience, and it offered many tools so that you can complete the game and come out on the other side. For this purpose, I have claimed that this game is not The I’m picky about the people who can enjoy it, and the years since have proven me right many times.

Many people who play FromSoftware’s notoriously difficult games love to make their lives even more difficult. Soulslike players always like a good challenge, and that’s why you often see blindfolded or Boss Gauntlets without hits at events like Summer Games Done Quick. With Fire ringWith the immense popularity of , this scene exploded, going beyond simple challenges like level 1 runs where the player isn’t allowed to level up throughout the entire game, and instead these challenges became exponentially weirder.
I’m talking about completely alternative ways of playing Fire ring. Instead of playing the game with a controller or mouse and keyboard, some have started modifying the game to support input via musical instruments. Others have used dance mats, and some have even used their brains to simply watch the game and communicate input via brainwaves. The Fire ring community has proven how consistently inventive it is, managing to take on completely ridiculous challenges in bizarre and even Byzantine ways, so I thought it might be fun to list some of the most impressive methods players have used to win Fire ring
Dance mat
The most popular alternative is dance mats, which have long been a staple of Soulslike challenge runs, but they have never been bigger. This is mainly due to MissMikkaa, a streamer who has made it her mission to try Fire ring about too many alternative methods. Her most famous runs were those where she was assisted (or hindered, depending on how you look at it) by a dance pad. In the years since the release of Fire ringher runs became more and more crazy. At one point she even took over Fire ring‘S the hardest boss fight twice at the same timecontrolling one character with her dance pad and another with a standard PS5 controller. I could hardly beat Malenia once on a controller and Kai Cenat spent more than 24 hours try to defeat them without a summons, but clearly to show off.
Donkey Kong Bongo
Little known fact: the Donkey Konga Rhythm series are among the best games of our time. I believe this to be true, even though I have never played them. So why should I make such a confident statement? Because they gave us the best controllers of all time: the Donkey Kong bongo’s.
I love a good rhythm game and playing it inspired me to pick up the guitar at a young age, but Rock band‘s plastic barrels have no shit on the Germany Bongos. These ridiculous controllers have been around for almost 20 years and in that time they have become a popular souvenir And another popular alternative for challenge runs. If you don’t believe me, check out the Bongos’ Wikipedia pageor watch this video.
If you want to make a difficult game even harder, you might as well have some fun and look ridiculous while doing it. And nothing captures that better than banging on a bongo to pull off a fierce jump attack, you know?
A real musical instrument
If you are a fairly versatile person, you may have a actually instrument at some point in your life, rather than some plastic bongos. If that’s the case, congratulations, you’re gifted in a way that some people never achieve. Now imagine being able to take that skill and bring it back into gaming. That’s what some people have managed to do over the years, turning their favorite instruments into controllers and triumphing Fire ringThe numerous challenges.
That’s what Anna Ellsworth did a few years ago when she defeated Margit the Fell Omen by plucked the strings of her harp. That is also what CZR did when he hit the same boss with a modified drums
“Mind control”
We have has previously featured the streamer Perrikaryal on the websitebut it’s worth mentioning this often because her setup is still amazing. Perri, another streamer who enjoys unorthodox challenge runs, has recently had a series of Shadow of the Earth Tree‘s bosses with her mind. Using an electroencephalogram, which essentially reads her brain activity, as well as some eye-tracking technology, she was able to decimate Fire ring‘s gallery of divine villains with little more than your thoughts and the blink of an eye. Here’s how to put these bosses in their place.
Morse code
Although I had heard of most of the other challenge runs featured here, this was the most surprising one that I had not heard of until I was researching this article. Spanish streamer Silithur managed to beat Fire ring a few months ago with Morse code! That’s right, one button and way too many lines and dots to count, but the guy damn well did it. He even has a Dunk on Elon Musk in process. How do you type “Holy shit you’re a legend” in Morse code?
A fish
I’m not sure what I could write to properly express what an accomplishment this is. This goldfish is simply built differently. Even better than most of us. We could all learn a thing or two from him.
Full body motion control
Sometimes you play a game so well that you just want to live in it, with all the dangers. That is exactly what streamer Luality has achieved by whole body in her Fire ring Controller. With the help of some motion controls, the streamer transformed Fire ring
Ring Fit Wheel (and all the other crazy ways this guy modified the game)
While researching for this list, I came across a YouTube channel that has put a lot of effort into gaming over the years Fire ring with increasingly bizarre controllers. Super Louis 64What’s special about him is that he seems to love playful controls and invents a lot of unique controls from scratch. Boy, has he found a lot of different ways to play. Fire ringPeople.
I am most familiar with his Ring Fit Adventure set upwhere he uses the game’s unique wheel-like controller to train while dodging and defeating bosses in Fire ring. His inventions don’t end there, though. Just a month ago, the guy figured out how to make a fully functional bow and arrow controller from a child’s toy. Before that, he literally built a Greatsword of Fire ring and turned it into a controller. He also played the game with a Controller made of bananas. I don’t understand how or why he does these things, but the point is that there is someone out there who does them and that’s pretty cool.
A mouth controller
While most of these posts are cool optional challenge runs that people have decided to do, my favorite is this one from a disabled gamer who can’t use standard controllers. A quadriplegic – that is, paralyzed from the neck down – shared a video of himself Shadow of the Earth Tree‘s damn boss with a mouth controller. I don’t know about you, but it’s probably one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen.
I haven’t reached the end of the expansion yet, but I’m sure it will take me hundreds of tries to win this fight unless I use a very broken build. Some of the most experienced Fire ring Players are fully capable and fight it. It literally takes either grit, complete mastery of the game, or intense effort to fight this fight with both hands, but here’s someone who can do it without the use of both hands. That’s a damn hero.
