Surprise! A new, previously undocumented cheat code has been discovered in the classic Super Nintendo game Donkey Kong Country 2 almost three decades after it hit shelves.
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest was first released almost 30 years ago in 1985 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The platform sequel developed by Rare with pseudo-3D graphics was a huge success at the time and is still fondly remembered today. I mean, just the music in this game makes it really special. And now someone has found a hidden cheat code in DKC2.
As discovered by Time extensionTwitter user tnkt_kong shared the discovery on social media and provided a video of the newly discovered cheat code in action. However, the hidden code was actually discovered by Discord user h4voc21.
The newly discovered Donkey Kong 2 The cheat code allows you to return to the map screen even if you have not yet completed the current level. How to enter and activate the cheat via the first tweet of a tnkt_kong
During the pause screen, press:
- Right + Y
- Left + A
- Top + B
- Down + X
Entering this command will allow you to return to the map screen (even if you have not yet completed the course).
If you enter correctly, you will hear a sound and immediately return to the map screen, regardless of where you are in the level or how advanced you are. It may not be the most useful cheat code ever discovered, but it’s still nice to see it appeal to a popular retro game Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest
The timing of this discovery is also interesting. DKC2 was Added to the Nintendo Switch Online catalog in 2021 and added new icons just added last week. And his music is available on Nintendo’s Spotify-like music app now available on Android and iOS. There’s something in the water, I suspect.
