If you’ve been on Twitter lately, you may have noticed people posting a series of different colored squares. No, this is not a psy-op that you are unfairly excluded from, but rather the Twitter manifestation of Wortle, a daily word guessing game that is currently gaining traction in the online world.

The premise is hugely simple, you have six tries to guess a word – and each try will tell you what you did right and what you did wrong. Correct letters with the correct placement turn green, correct letters with incorrect placement turn yellow, and the total number of failures remains the basic gray of the game. After six failed attempts, the game will tell you the word. If you’ve successfully guessed the word, you can brag about it on Twitter – which is where you probably heard about it first.

Wortle does two things very right. It’s easy to play and exceptionally easy to promote on Twitter dot com. This doctorate manages to overcome the exceptionally fine line between effectiveness and constant irritation, which she achieves through the daily puzzle release cadence. By offering a single puzzle a day, Wortle prevents dedicated players from completely plastering your feed Wortle Results. It also prevents players from burnout and prevents them from solving too many puzzles in one day.

However, these Twitter posts mentioned above are exceptionally vague, which means it can take a while to find the game. For my part, I assumed it was a phone game and was disappointed when I couldn’t find it on the Play Store. It wasn’t until my colleagues started posting about it in Slack that I realized it was actually a browser game.

As a word lover, you can tell in my job that I’m really happy that a word game is conquering Twitter as much as it is three made years ago and Bubble ball has in recent memory.

While I’m somewhat skeptical of the game’s longevity, especially given the notoriously fast-paced public awareness of video games on Twitter, it will be fun to see your friends fail to guess words while it lasts.
