There were times of intense pain, days when certain body functions no longer worked, and a sudden attack of severe depression that made me wonder if it was really worth the fight. It would have been a betrayal of some cancer patients who have looked to me as an inspiration and a fan of the value of life and hope. And it would certainly be betraying my faith in God and the millions of prayers that have been said in my name.
