All the latest news from today’s big EA investor event

On 17 September, EA held its annual Investor DayHere the company presents the future of its work, explains how it plans to expand its franchises and tries to convince many financially strong people that they are profitable and worth further investment.

You might have missed it, as it’s not quite as exciting as E3. But a few things were announced, both at the event and as part of a media campaign outside of Investor Day, so here’s all the major news that might interest you.

The Sims 5 does not take place, but the franchise does not end

It may seem strange, but EA is not planning to Sims5 in the foreseeable future. Kate Gorman, EA’s Vice President and General Manager of The SimS, told diversity that it begins a “new era” for the franchiseand does not want to replace old games with new games and force players to start over completely.

“We don’t want to reset your progress. So it’s not so much about the numbers in the games, but the future of the franchise is more about maintaining your progress, maintaining things across multiple titles and really having an ongoing experience rather than a stop-start experience between products,” Gorman said.

EA will continue to update and improve The Sims4while other related games will be released, including the already announced Project Renewhat is not The Sims 5but something more focused on multiplayer. The goal seems to be to stop replacing games with new games and support things for longer.

“We will not be working on replacements for previous projects; we will just expand our universe,” said Gorman. “So you will see that there are more possibilities, The Sims on different platforms, different game types, transmedia and many great offers in this universe.”

In the meantime, EA also confirmed a Sims Film is in progressThe game publisher works with Amazon MGM and Barbie Star Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap. The film is directed and co-written by Loki Director of the first season, Kate Herron.

EA says they are “very excited” about the film, but couldn’t reveal much about it. “It’s too early to reveal more about the film, but stay tuned for updates as we celebrate our 25th anniversary next year!”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens in active development and is the end of the series

The next entry in Respawn and Lucasfilm’s award-winning Star Wars Jedi Series is currently being developed, according to EA during today’s investor eventIt will be the end of the trilogy and series.

“Over 40 million star Wars “Fans have developed a connection with Cal Kestis and his evolution into a powerful Jedi,” said Laura Miele, president of EA Entertainment and Technology, during the event.

And that story will continue in the third game, which Miele said is in active development. “Respawn is working hard to bring players the final chapter of this exciting story,” Miele said.

EA did not reveal any further details about the next game at the event.

Previously, Jedi1 And 2 said director Stig Asmussen IGN that he had always imagined the games “as a trilogy” and that the team had plans for what would happen afterward 2023 Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Asmussen left Respawn in September 2023 and will not be involved in the upcoming third part of the trilogy.

The Ice skate reboot starts in 2025

The Internet can finally stop asking EA about Skates Release date. The publisher confirmed on 17 September that the reboot will finally be released via Early Access in 2025.
