All the major changes coming this year

Halo Infinite will bring its seasonal model to a standstill in 2024. Three years after its initial release, the live-service multiplayer shooter is transitioning to more bite-sized Battle Passes with 20 levels, releasing every four to six weeks. Developer 343 Industries announced the content change in its January update stream on January 19th, along with several other key features, cosmetics and more coming to the FPS this year

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know Halo Infinite in 2024 – and it all looks pretty exciting.

Halo Infinite in 2024: goodbye seasons, hello operations

343 Industries hasn’t minced words about the future Halo Infinite‘s content releases. As community director Brian Jarrard said during the stream, “We’re moving away from seasons.” Seasons appeared every few months, usually with a specific theme and 100 tiers of unlockable items in the Battle Pass. Instead, you can look forward to regular “Operations” now, starting with “Spirit of Fire” on January 30th. Each operation has 20 reward tiers to overcome, so while they’re no longer called “seasons,” things should still feel somewhat similar.

However, Operation Spirit of Fire isn’t the only thing coming on January 30th. Once this update is available, you can look forward to the following additions:

  • Mark IV Armor Core (Free for all players)
  • The ability to swap shoulders of different armor cores
  • A new 4v4 Arena map called Illusion

Let yourself be inspired Halo Infinite‘s new card, “Illusion”

The new Illusion map will have a symmetrical layout, making it ideal for competitive play as it ensures more even starts for each team. There’s even a super-narrow corridor that runs right through the middle, providing an uninterrupted line of sight between enemy bases, which will likely be a magnet for some serious carnage. If you’ve ever played Husky Raid, which pits teams of Spartans against each other in a simple corridor, you know how deadly corridors can be gloriole. There are also a lot of elevation changes from what we saw in the creek.

This new map looks really promising and should be an excellent addition to map rotation across different playlists.

But that’s not all! Remember the corridor that runs across the map? Well, if you go in there, you become invisible. Objective-based games like Capture the Flag or even King of the Hill should feature some interesting gameplay with such a stealth option so readily available.

The possibility that future maps could include interesting additions such as easily accessible invisibility or unique power weapons sounds like a welcome change from the usual introduction of standard arena maps that use the same weapons and methods of movement.

Halo Infinite tends to be nostalgic

Although there were some variations glorioleis the iconic assault rifle from InfiniteThe standard assault rifle is reminiscent of the 2010s model Halo Reach. There is also a new skin for the assault rifle that makes it look exactly like the assault rifle from Halo Combat Evolved, the game that started it all. Since it’s just a skin, the stats won’t change (no 60-round magazine, unfortunately). The skin will be part of the paid version of the January 30 promotion.

And the new Mark IV armor core, which comes from the 2009 RTS spinoff Halo Warswill also be available as a free cosmetic for all players.

Finally, in what appears to be a cosmetic element taken from the new Illusion map, there is a square overshield sticking right out Halo Combat evolved. It’s little things like this that help sales gloriole as one cohesive world – and given the amount of stylistic changes the series has gone through, these unifying features are more than welcome.

Forge and playlist updates are in preparation

If you’re interested in Forge creations, there’s more fun in store for you on January 30th, including Covenant-themed items as a nod to the series’ main antagonists and lovers of all things purple. Additional color customization options will also be available starting January 30th, providing even more color options to choose from for Forge’s wide range of in-game items. Finally, “Script Brains”, a fancy term for code that allows complex objects to behave in unique ways, can be saved in game modes and used across multiple maps – previously Script Brains were inherently tied to a specific map.

There are also flood-themed items in Forge. Related to glorioleBeing the enemy faction of the Undead, these assets look particularly ugly. Brian Jarrard called her “moist” on stream. You’re welcome.

Finally, three community maps will be added to the rotation for Big Team Battle in February, as well as updates to Husky Raid, Squad Battle and Firefight. Most importantly, a new type of game selection similar to this is scheduled to be introduced sometime in 2024 Halo: The Master Chief CollectionMatch Composer, which lets you search across broad categories like player count, game type, and more (instead of mode-specific playlists). If you’re tired of playlists locking you into the same game modes over and over again, this should be a great way to customize the games you want to play. It works wonderfully in it The Master Chief Collection.

If you’re looking for a little more time Halo Infinite2024 looks to be a very good year for the legendary shooter franchise.
