Amazon orders series with Spelunky and PlayStation games

Amazon Prime Video has reportedly commissioned a new animated anthology series that will feature short stories set in various existing video game worlds. The series will be created by Tim Miller, the same person behind Netflix’s popular Love, death and robots Series and the first Dead Pool Film.

Miller’s Love, death and robots Premieres 2019. The series features various short stories animated by different studios in different art styles. The episodes often revolve around a theme or topic and the stories can be very different, sometimes involving robots, horror, sci-fi or even comedy elements. And now Amazon wants to take the same formula but apply it to video games.

On 14 August Deadline reported that Amazon is producing a series called Secret level by Miller and Blur Studio. Like Love, death and robotsThe new series will be an anthology, with each episode set in a different video game world or franchise. Deadline reported that some possible games in Secret level including popular indie platformer SpeleologyAmazon’s own MMORPG New Worldand various unspecified “PlayStation titles”. Each episode of Secret level will likely consist of short stories set in these different games.

Amazon Prime Video representatives declined to comment. Deadline with a comment.

Deadline reported that Secret level will be officially unveiled and announced soon. The outlet suggests that it could be unveiled at Opening night of Gamescom 2024 livealso known as Geoff Keighley’s Video Game Extravaganza: August Edition.

This is just the latest example of streaming services and studios investing more and more in video game adaptations. In recent years, the number of video game productions has increased significantly, including this year’s highly praised by critics Stand out and the Box office flop, this is this month’s Borderlands film. Amazon produced the Stand out Show and is already working on another season and a show based on the Yakuza/Like a Dragon Franchises too.
