Amazons New world is certainly used to players finding exploits to loot extra gold, but yesterday the MMO took it to a whole new level: Accidentally playing the game itself started distributing boxes of gold to certain people player.
New world feels a bit cursed since its release back in September this year. As it appears every week there is a new reason Amazon Has to kind of undo from catastrophe. Usually, it has to do with the game’s complex economy and the cunning players who find ways to exploit its multiple teething troubles. But this week’s disaster is entirely the editor’s fault. As PC player
In a statement posted to the New world Website, a developer named Lane let players know what went wrong. The problem started when the game kindly tried to reclaim lost taxes for players who had experienced previous outages. “This database change incorrectly granted very large sums that did not match the intended amounts,” Lane said. He continues, “Many gamblers would then spend that money and often buy large quantities of items from the trading post.” Which seems pretty reasonable.
However with New world‘s economy apparently so vulnerable they haven’t wanted to lately Waste that affected their country and decided the only option was to take the servers offline and then reset the time.
Upon research, it became clear that there was no clean way to undo just those players who were given money, as the secondary effects were widespread and affected a lot more players and systems. For this reason, we decided to reset characters, companies and the trading post to 12:45 p.m. CET, shortly before the database change was implemented.
Of course, this did not go smoothly either. The hint continues
During testing, we discovered an issue where a small number of players who switched between 12:45 PM and 3:00 PM CET were stuck in the “character_restore_failure” state. We know the exact players affected and are working to correct this situation. We’ll post an update here as soon as it’s fixed.
The last update from yesterday stated that while everything else in the game was working again, even though all players woke up with a three-hour amnesia (and some far empty bank accounts), the trading posts were still blocked.
These issues only seem to have affected the “EU Central Region” servers, but boy-oh-boy, I bet New worldThe developers are not having a great Thanksgiving break.
