Rhythm and games have been around for a long time. In rhythm games, such as the youngest cousin of action games, it's not about getting to the end, but about doing it with style and accuracy. This type of game works best when you let yourself go, which at the same time (or at least that's normal) makes the music flow with the game's themes. While failure in an action game often leads to a loss of life points, failure in a game of music can have serious consequences such as suddenly letting go of anger and having to start from scratch; This is the case of Patapon 2. However, here it is not a disaster because its music has not stabbed us so much.
The game introduces many things successfully. Once you get acquainted with the first two strings, a third drum comes out that gives you another rhythm to play and, next to it, a new song for your troops to sing. Orders are never complicated, even if you find a new drum. You always follow the rhythm of the four strokes, so, for us who already had experience in rhythm games and had grown up with a knife in our hands, it seemed like an easy thing during the early hours. After all, we have only recently been able to begin some serious drama, as it is not just learning different rhythms. It's about learning enough for them to easily switch between them depending on your situation. If you have to think about what you are doing, the battle is lost. If the enemy suddenly attacks you, you should be ready to play the & # 39; defensive song & # 39; rather than pointing to the impending attack. It takes a while to catch up (literally), but it's fun to learn how to handle it.
Nevertheless, defeat is imminent. When we first realized that defeat was the essence of the game, we found that it was also easy to deal with the loss. Not only did we have the opportunity to continue for a long time in the next endeavor, but we could also prepare ourselves for more insight into the work. Patapon 2 is not just a rhythm game. There is an RPG program within music that lets you collect the tools you can use to improve your soldiers. Therefore, it may be worthwhile to repeat the journey on numerous occasions, in order to improve the rhythm and strengthen your army. Do you want to go out and feed your troops? Equip your army with spears. You can turn them into swords if they fit better with the situation. Maybe you need a combination of both; If so, you can make your troops fly and it won't be difficult, either. Keep in mind that wrestling is not limited to your ability with drums, but you have to provide a way of understanding directly on each of the machines.
Above all, Patapon 2 presents a problem that is immediately recognizable as it begins, and the music itself is less than enjoyable. A good soundtrack can improve any game, but for a rhythmic theme it is important that the quality of the themes is up to par. The music should help the player move on and inspire him through complex yet exciting experiences. However, in this case the soundtrack is very noisy and keeps repeating. A constant recording of your orders stays in your head for a long time even after you leave the game. You can accept the volume, of course, but that will make it difficult for you to keep going and, as a result, you will not be able to play properly. This thing has made us skeptical about having to play long hours of sitting, and it definitely didn't feel like planning a game time after writing this review.
After all, with Patapon 2 it's pretty easy to get carried away. By building the right army for the challenge that awaits you or along with all the drum strings so that the best sound and troops fit perfectly, we understand why the series has such passionate fans. Although there were many occasions when we got involved, in conclusion, we were glad we tried the game.
