Tens of thousands of people will enter the front doors of the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center this weekend. This is where PAX East is being held, one of the biggest fans of video game meetings. One does not usually call such an event a rest. It's fun, of course – but it's crisp and loud. All its spaces are filled with people. There are many lines. Being close to all these people – during the flu, it's less – I'm going to get sick.
And yet. I am now ready to pack my bags and visit the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Thank you, Nintendo! In fact, I don't even need to bring much. Enough to Crossing the Animals: New Horizons booth to feed a little: tent, fire, fruit, waterfall, a fishing rod, and, of course, Tom Nook.
The Animal Crossing Exit booth was one of the first things I saw when I entered the PAX East expo hall on Thursday morning. The colorful camp is stripped straight from the video game. Island visitors – in this case, PAX East attendees – were tapping fishing poles from the bridge. Some ask about the sulfur fruits hanging from the towering animals of Animal Crossing. A few people played with the tools set up on the art bench as the blue waterfall trampled nearby.
I waited in line for about 15 minutes before I thought of moving on to another booth. Then Tom Nook appeared, and I decided that I would die in line. And, boy, I'm glad I'm waiting – this is my new home!
Part of the appeal of the Animal Crossing franchise for me is the dream, and its cool place. I was very involved Animal Crossing: New Leaf
It's a feeling I like to hold on to. That is why I move in. Can someone tell my husband that I am home when the staff of the convention center pick me up? I hope they will let me stay until Crossing the Animals: New Horizons launches March 20 on Nintendo Switch.
