Some things are guaranteed during our time on earth: life, death, and the slow and inevitable claws of Black Friday.
Apparently, the fictional corporate vacation has found its way out of the American suburbs into the most popular quirky island lifestyle game. Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As? Well, thanks to some crafty fans, we now know that Nook’s Cranny will be hosting its own Black Friday sale in-game this year. It’s called “Nook Friday” and the event will cut all items sold by the Nook brothers by 30% from November 26-30.
It’s not the best deal in the world, but it’s a cute perk. It’s nice too because it’s timely with the release of a ton of new items as part of the new 2.0 update.
At first glance, the event may be at odds with the ethos of the game; We’re on an island vacation, after all. We ideally spend our days doing home improvement projects, fishing, cooking – whatever piques our interest. But that doesn’t interest Tom Nook. Tom Nook just wants you to buy all of these shiny new items. (Suddenly, needing Lottie’s Resort Escape makes a lot of sense.)
We still have to see if there will be a long line of villagers camping in front of the store waiting for it to open.
