Crossing the Animals: New HorizonsPhoto mode is a blessing that illuminates my daily social media feeds. Animal Crossing Photo island, on the other hand, it gets me the hell out.
Harvey is a hippie dog that introduces campus forums to Animal Crossing: update, and as his appearance suggests, he's a pretty cool character in that game. Harvey made a comeback New Horizons about a week into the show, and her vibe is completely different.
Harvey invites players to visit his island, which is actually a studio full of pictures where patrons can set scenes. Better yet, you can bring Amiibo to see old friends – and who doesn't want to have a good time with pies? It's a good idea on paper, until you see the actual execution.
The first thing you will notice when entering the Harvey residence is that there is nothing but a bed, a camera, a viewing area, and a director's chair. I got out immediately there, but the other stage audiences are much better. Somehow, the complete lack of privacy makes the rooms feel awful – especially when the icons are set up to look like a child's bedroom.

I have a bunch of cards on Amiibo, so the first thing I did was to bring Roald, my perfect round boy. It was a pleasure to see her, until I realized that you couldn't communicate with her. The characters in this mode will simply stand there, with a blank look on their face, completely silent and waiting to be sent. Unless you tell them to do something, the characters are dead.

It's amazing. I was upset about bringing Roald to hell, and asking if something was clever, Yeerk-like the armies prevented him from doing what he wanted. Did Roald get caught somewhere in this lifeless body? What should I do?
I'm sure some people will be able to use Harv Island to work well, telling stories and growing scenes that are impossible in the base game. Using Harv Island will also give you special character posters that you won't find anywhere else. I don't care, though. I would rather stick to the tarantula island than to always step on Harvey's platform again.
