It’s officially E3 season. Between the marquee E3 presser (Microsoft, Square Enix, Ubisoft, etc.) and individual events from publishers, the E3 villains (What’s up Sony) you can watch a handful of events with an emphasis on smaller games. The first of these, at least according to the calendar, is the Guerrilla Collective, which today broadcast its first of two digital showcases.

In its sophomore year, Guerrilla Collective indie games come to the fore. This year’s event offered a co-stream co-stream Black voices in gaming, which showcases games created by black creators or starring black protagonists. Today, Guerrilla Collective offered a glimpse of dozens of fascinating indie games on the horizon during a 90-minute event. The following went under:

  • In the year the change is a cyberpunk inspired action RPG with delicious pixel art and a mix of 2D and 3D perspectives. The fight looks buttery smooth. Somehow reminds of Escaped.
  • We have a trailer for Bloodstained‘s Stadia release.
  • The eternal cylinder is a 3D survival game that transforms you into a creature that looks like Dr. Moreau bred an elephant and a duck. Nightmares.
  • Trifox is a top down twin stick action game. You play as – you will never believe this – a fox and appear to have access to a plethora of different gadgets and weapons. Neat cel-shaded art style.

  • AK-xolotl is another top-down twin stick action game where you play as an irresistibly cute creature (in this case, an axolotl). Decent pixel art style for this one. It’s cooperation. Hell yes.
  • Rubi: The stubborn Mira is a side-scrolling platformer that smells of 80s influences and synth music.
  • Huge noooope nope nope nope to Moroiwhat scary AF looks like. It’s technically a top-down action shooter, but the horror influences are undeniable here.
  • Okay, this stream has officially landed in the Ari Has Nightmares area. Source of madness is a sideways scrolling roguelike that exudes Lovecraftian vibes.
  • Industry is a first person shooter inspired by BioShock, Half-life 2, and the “Works of David Lynch”. It takes place in a parallel dimension that is accessible via East Berlin towards the end of the Cold War. You fight against robots.
  • Chernobylite, a sci-fi survival horror game currently in Early Access, will be fully released this July. It’s definitely a walking nightmare if that’s your thing.
  • Hard rock. Fast-paced 3D action fight. Anime-as-Hell art style. Yes i’m here for so Ultra age.
  • Xalavier Nelson Jr., creator of the most charming game in 2021, An airport for foreigners currently operated by dogs, announced a new game. It’s called Elsewhere Pass, a third-person shooter set in a version of El Paso, Texas, that is overrun by vampires and werewolves. Lots of time here.
  • Love the medieval music of Elderand, a side-scrolling action game that, oh, no, what is it? Lovecraftian Influences? Too scary for me!
  • Run Die Run Again is a cyberpunk parkour game. It’s still at the beginning of development, but looks like exactly what would appease fans of Ghost runner.
  • Co-host Justin Woodward met with indie developer Neil Jones, who was just released Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield, a 3D runner in futuristic Detroit, for a short interview. “Black Voices In Gaming Freshman Class was an idea where we looked at upcoming games from black talent in game development and the game industry,” said Jones. “I really wanted it to highlight all of these games that are coming out relatively soon and show that all of these creators in the world are together and support each other, rather than being some kind of competition.”
  • Dungeonology Guild‘s Ultimate Edition comes out this year.
  • Between the magical animals, the cotton candy graphics and a notable absence of struggle, the world craft Grow: Song from the Evertree Looks like it’s going to be some great rainy Sunday play fodder.
  • Return of the goddess is the first DLC for Legend of the Guardians, a turn-based role-playing game. It’s out this year.
  • Tinkertown, a multiplayer sandbox game that has been in Early Access for some time, will receive a new patch on June 16 – the “Desert Dungeon”.
  • Zodiac Legion is a tactical RPG with hexagonal tiles and that looks disturbingly complicated if that’s your thing.
  • The minimalist space shooter Great space club is basically Asteroids, but twee. Out later this year. Sign me up!
  • Onsen Master is a simulation game in which you respond to customer needs through handicrafts, something like that Overcooked Series.
  • The fry, a meditative side-scrolling swim, is out now. All you need to know is … just look at this art style:

  • Kraken Academy is a time loop game set in a high school infested with otherworldly monstrosities.
  • Kung Fu kickball gets a new character. The game was playable during last year’s Summer Game Fest demo event. Pretty fun, the kind of game you play as a drinking game for a few rounds.
  • Aeon drive is a cooperative side scrolling platformer. Coming out later this year and playing for free on Steam this weekend.
  • It took me two seconds to cry during the trailer Endling, a side scrolling game with minimalist art style in which you play as a fox who instantly loses your baby fox. Your goal is to find that one place on the planet where people can no longer harm you. “At the end of the day, the most dangerous predators roam the world: humans,” says the narrator. So true.
  • Animals of the island of Maravilla is a 3D adventure game in which you play as a wildlife photographer. Think: Pokémon snapshot, but not on rails and not with Pokémon either.
  • Dinosaur. Mythical ruins. Muted art style. travel-esque sand surfing. omno is to be observed. (There is currently a demo on Steam.)
  • Fire tonight is a cyberpunk colored 3D adventure game about a couple that will be released on August 12th.
  • The light bringer is a 3D puzzle platformer. The Windbreaker Influences are undeniable, what with the cel-shaded graphics and the boomerang weapon.
  • Alfred Hitchcock vertigo is a video game adaptation loosely based on the movie classic.
  • The legend of Tianding is an early 20th century side scrolling action game in which you play the legendary Taiwanese folk hero Liao Tianding. Really cool comic book effects here. From this October.

  • Whine, a pixelated survival horror game in New England – the home of Mr. Horror Master Stephen King – cites Resident Evil and Silent Hill as references.
  • My dear woman is a “mix of dating, management, and alchemy Sims” that explores the depths of grief following the death of his wife.

  • RPG Time: The Legend of Wright offers a mix of art styles, including sketchbook drawings and paper mache-esque styles that are reminiscent of Paper mario.
  • Potato flowers in full bloom is a dungeon crawler that combines first-person exploration with isometric turn-based combat.
  • Roleplay golf legends is a role-playing game about golf that also involves role-playing games such as fighting bears, fishing and sailing across the open oceans.
  • The 3D “high-speed blade combat simulator” Barbarian looks stupid. Dibs on the character with the biggest sword.
  • Survival quiz city is basically Fall Guys + Trivia Night At Your Local Bar.
  • The fighting game Antinomy of the common flowers comes to Switch and PS4.
  • The pixel art shooter BlasterMaster Zero III will be released on July 29th.
  • Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is out next year.

And that’s a wrap. The Guerrilla Collective will return next Saturday, June 12th at 11:00 AM ET, in the middle of E3, for a second showcase that will feature a whole host of new games. (Same day Ubisoft, Gearbox, and the infamous non-E3 Devolver Digital will broadcast press conferences.) The second Guerrilla Collective event is followed by the reliably gentle Wholesome Direct. If you are looking for a chilled aperitif Before the spicy bombast of games press conferences with a large budget, the double headed ball is worth your time next weekend.
