Atari announces Missile Command Recharged for Android, iOS

Atari is inspiring Missile Command with a new game the company calls "modern take" in the arcade classic of mobile devices. Introducing the game, it's called Death Order: Issued, coincides with the 40th anniversary of the original 1980s.

Death Order: Issued

maintains the same view of the first game, in which arrows of battle silos reach rockets to protect human bodies. Re-sent uses a neon-colored visual design, a classic arcade game re-imagined as Pac Man Championship Edition and Space Invaders Above. Gameplay has been optimized, with high-power, developmental programming, and a truly awkward virtual reality mode that develops gameplay in a "real arcade" wardrobe.

Death Order: Issued is set to be released sometime this spring for iOS (iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch) and Android devices. Said Atari Death Order: Issued it will be free to download with ads, and players can make one-time purchases to play the game free and ad-free.

It will be a busy year for Atari, and plans to launch a new console, the Atari VCS collection, and launch a new line of Atari-themed hotels by 2020.
