It’s a big day for fans of avatar, the film directed by James Cameron about people trying to mine the alien planet Pandora for its rich resources. The long-delayed sequel, set for release on December 16, is being dubbed Avatar: The Way of Water. A new trailer for the film will launch exclusively in cinemas and will be played beforehand Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when it debuts next week.

For those who don’t remember exactly what happened in the 2009 original avatar, Disney is remastering the film and planning to release it in theaters worldwide on September 23. The sequel will continue to star Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, a former Marine taking on the role of the titular avatar, putting him in the body of one of the native Na’vi of Pandora. While starting out as a spy among the Na’vi, Sully falls in love with one of them, Neytiri (Zoë Saldana), and eventually fights back against his own Earth military ready to destroy the planet in its obsessive, ruthless quest after a rare metal called unobtanium.
