When Nickelodeon announced earlier this year that it was in the early stages of construction Avatar Studios, a new branch dedicated to designing new projects to continue the bigger ones Avatar: The last airbender Franchise, one of the questions that preoccupied many people, was what this new venture would mean Netflixhas already been announced Live action User picture
Although there hasn’t been much new about Netflix’s project since 2018 when it was first teased, that suddenly changed late last year Avatar: The last airbenderCo-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have left the project about creative differences with Netflix
Nickelodeon’s first announcement for the User picture Franchises included word of a feature film, but in a new interview with DeadlineBrian Robbins, President of ViacomCBS, explained how the company understands internally how to create a whole universe around the country User picture and Airbender Brand including several series and films.
“Mike and Bryan work hard, and I think the universe will definitely be one movie, one animation, certainly several TV series, and probably several movies,” said Robbins. “I think we’ll be ready to tell the world which comes first very soon, but we’re not there yet because we are in the early stages of creative development.”
G / O Media can receive a commission
Deadline also noted that Netflix’s User picture Adaptation-Executive produced by Dan Lin– is apparently still in preproduction, although the Netflix press page doesn’t even mention the new series at the moment, apart from a single mention of Lin’s name in a larger press release about diversity in the company. Strange considering Netflix and Nickelodeon are both coming out User picture Projects that weren’t exactly part of the same larger media initiative, the general premise of the franchise could are suitable for such a situation, especially when the new series and films from Avatar Studios focus on stories that take place in this universe and are closely related to the original characters.
Robbins also pointed out that ViacomCBS is currently focused on building its own streaming portfolio for services like that New renamed Paramount +This indicates that the network is not necessarily involved in Netflix’s activities.
“We’re excited to fill our own platforms today,” he said. “We’re going to be strategically licensing the context to other locations for a variety of reasons, but mostly we’re focusing on filling our own platforms, starting with linear television.”
It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out in the future, especially when Avatar Studios has more to offer the public than promises of what could Come. After all the drama of trying to turn the original series into something more than what it was, it’s worth wondering what Netflix or Nickelodeon might come up with to grab audience attention the way of the original series did, and if that’s something the public is really interested in.
