When photographer Matthew Cohen picks up his toys, he never puts them on the shelves. He makes them live.
On his Instagram account he shot, Matthew takes amazing photos of the action figures that make them look like they are in the middle of a movie / TV show they come from, special effects and everything.
While it looked like they were taken from another world, most of Matthews' photos were actually snapped off the kitchen table, lit with LED lamps on the desk and a few wires were fitted with their bright screens providing the illumination available.
As for the effects, aside from the lighting and other basics like installing a lightaber, he uses the Atmosphere Aerosol, aka fog in the barrel, to help bring some lightness to some action scenes, and while some scenes are shot with dioramas, others are in front of his TV or monitor (like this one). below).
And her favorite? "My favorite thing to take is the Samurai Stormtooper on the boat", Matthew tells me. “Many times you have an idea in your head and you don't just translate it for whatever reason. And so you end up making changes or that doesn't happen at all. But that has been a fantastic transition from imagination to photography and it has been an easy task. ”
“I found a small reflecting pond in Central Park the other day and quickly pictured the man on a floating boat. The following year after I had ordered my friend to build the boat from scratch (He loves building things but had never done a working boat before, let alone an accurate traditional Japanese.) So I was back in Central Park snapping pictures that came exactly as I thought. ”
