That Story behind the casting of the lead voice acrucial role for the third game in the bayonet Series was a complete mess with allegations of terrible pay, conflicting accounts and non-disclosure agreements. In an attempt to wrap things up, the developers behind the title PlatinumGames released a statement tonight.
At Platinum Games, we offer our sincere appreciation to everyone who has contributed to the development of the Bayonetta series over the years, as well as the community that has served as the foundation.
We give our full support to Jennifer Hale as the new Bayonetta and agree with everything she says.
We ask people to refrain from further comments that would disrespect Jennifer or any of the other contributors on the show.
The statement they are referring to, from current voice actress Jennifer Hale, reads:
Regarding Bayonetta 3,
As a longtime member of the voice acting community, I support every actor’s right to good pay and have consistently campaigned for it for years.
Anyone who knows me or has followed my career knows that I have great respect for my colleagues and that I am an advocate for all members of the community.
I am under a non-disclosure agreement and am not allowed to comment on this situation. My reputation speaks for itself.
I sincerely ask that everyone remember that this game was made by a whole team of hard-working, dedicated people and I hope everyone is open to what they have created.
In conclusion, I hope that everyone involved can resolve their differences amicably and respectfully.
With love and respect to you all,
Jennifer Hale
The story began last week when Hellena played Taylor bayonet In the first two games of the series, she released a series of videos claiming that she was only offered $4000 for the role in the thirdand then urged fans to boycott the upcoming game:
“Fat cats skim the top and leave us the crumbs,” she said, before noting that her inability to earn a living wage from the industry has left her suffering from depression and anxiety. She recounts that after she was knocked out, she wrote to Hideki Kamiya, the game’s executive director, to plead her case. She claims he recognized her importance to the role and how much she would mean to fans. But the offer apparently still ended at $4,000.
“I was worried that I would take to the streets,” she said of the greater inability to earn a living wage. “It scared me so much that I had suicidal thoughts at one point. I’m not afraid of the non-disclosure agreement. I can’t even afford to drive a car. What will they do, take my clothes? Well then good luck.”

Hale, who replaced Taylor, made her own statement (the one above), while a story on Bloomberg then doubts about some of Taylor’s original salary claims. Both women were subsequently victims of online abuse, prompting Platinum to plead in tonight’s statement.
