Despite all the odds, the 2021 Super Bowl is still taking place. Which means that despite all the odds, Super Bowl commercials are still running. This year brings less recklessness and more megacorporations trying to say something meaningful about our unprecedented pandemic times. Even so, among the serious followers (and there have been some good ones!) There is some easy fun to be had. And also … an odd amount of twisted celebrity bodies.
In case you’ve completely forgotten the Super Bowl happened but still want to see those cute ads, we’ve rounded up the must-see ones.
Michelob Ultra: “Happy”
Super Bowl ads are either for fun or something useful. Considering 2020 … well, 2020 was more than usual in this latter category. But Michelob Ultra manages to thoughtfully change the idea of happiness in the small moments.
Bud Light: “Legends”
What if Avengers: Endgame Portal scene … but for beer?
UberEats: “Wayne’s World”
Mike Myers and Dana Carvey re-enact the roles of Wayne and Garth for an Uber Eats commercial in which they try to get us to support local businesses by using every tactic in the book. Including a shameless celebrity cameo! Eat locally!
Tide: “The Jason Alexander Hoodie”
I don’t think any movie, TV show, or commercial this year will beat the experience of watching the Jason Alexander Hoodie Tide commercial. This is cinema at its best.
Doritos: “Flat Matthew”
I think this year is the year of the bodies of celebrities in strange configurations. Matthew McConaughey doesn’t feel like himself – in fact, he feels … pretty flat. Until he tastes the three-dimensional taste of Doritos.
Amazon: “Alexa’s Body”
This Amazon commercial raises a question many of us have only dreamed of: what if Michael B. Jordan were a personal companion at home? I would like to see it.
Cheetos: “It wasn’t me”
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher reimagine Shaggy’s 2000 rap hit, but instead of cheating, it’s about Mila sneaking into Ashton’s Cheetos stash.
DoorDash: “The Neighborhood – Sesame Street”
Who doesn’t wish they lived on Sesame Street? Seeing Daveed Diggs walking with Big Bird and his company singing could be as close as possible.
State Farm: “Drake of the State Farm”
Haha understand?
Cadillac: ScissorHandsFree
If they remake Tim Burtons Edward with the scissor hands In 2021, it would only make sense for the heartbreaker Timotheé Chalamet to play the tragic title hero. And hey, you save a lot on pale white face makeup! While there are no remake plans known to us, you can see Timeé Scissorhands driving an expensive car in the Cadillac commercial.
