Each party member has a “best archetype“In Metaphor: ReFantasiaalthough the game clearly wants you to experiment with your own combinations. However, a system called Royal archetypes They open late in the story and it’s almost necessary that you’ve spent the entire game pushing each character in a certain direction if you want to unlock them in time to defeat the final boss.
The good news is that these royal archetypes are extremely powerful and worth the effort to unlock.
Below we’ll break it down the best archetypes for each party member in Metaphor: ReFantasia (including the protagonist). There are plenty Spoilers for all job families, Royal Archetype job titles, and party members late in the game below, so scroll at your own risk.
Best archetypes for the protagonist
Unlike the other heroes who will travel with you Metaphor: ReFantasiaThe hero will unlock his royal archetype – Prince – through the story. This then unlocks the ability for the rest of your party members to study royal archetypes, although they must first earn them.
Because You will naturally unlock the Royal Prince archetypeyou can learn anything you want throughout most of the game. Still, we’ve had a lot of success pushing our protagonist toward more magical and healing paths, since you can’t remove them from the group and these types of archetypes are always useful.
Consider these five archetype families for the protagonist as you move through the game:
- Viewfinder
- healer
- magician
- Dealer
- gunner
Best archetypes for Strohl
Strohl starts out as a warrior and has fairly high strength. For this reason, it is ideal for high physical damage archetypes like Brawlers. Strohl’s ideal role limits him a bit, however, as there are some enemies that require a little more than a sharp blade. Merchant is a good addition to his kit to boost his luck and give him that all-important Gold Attack, but Commander is Strohl who really shines outside of his Warrior House, as he’ll learn loads of support skills that will make him invaluable can do in some endgame battles.
When thinking about his royal archetype, you should focus on Warrior and Comm ander The Royal Warrior job requires Samurai 20, Warlord 20, and 30,000 MAG
Consider these four archetype families for Strohl as you move through the game:
- warrior
- commander
- Dealer
- brawler
Best archetypes for Hülkenberg
Hülkenberg is a somewhat strange party member metaphorbecause to make her the best tank she can be, you also have to invest a lot in magic. To unlock the Magic Knight – and therefore the rest of the Knight line – you must teach Hülkenberg the Mage archetype. The theme of tanks and magic users – usually opposing ideas in games like this – will follow Hülkenberg all the way to her Royal Knight archetype by the end of the game.
Royal Knight requires Paladin 20, Dark Knight 15, Elemental Master 15 and 30,000 MAG. If you want her to eventually train to be a Royal Knight, make sure she’s basically on a Knight or Mage path all the time, as she’ll have to chew through a lot of Job XP before the game is over, considering that there are four jobs in each of these families.
Consider these four archetype families for Hulkenberg as you move through the game:
- Knight
- magician
- commander
- healer
Best archetypes for Heismay
Heismay is a real go-getter when it comes to getting jobs done. In fact, you’ll need to invest in more jobs than any other party member to get Heismay’s royal archetype. So unless you want to spend all of your endgame XP fruit on Heismay, you’ll have to be very disciplined to get him where he needs to go for the Royal Thief.
Royal Thief requires Ninja 20, Dragoon 15, Tycoon 15 and 30,000 MAG. What makes this difficult is that you have to master at least one archetype in the Seeker, Knight, and Commander trees to get to the high-level jobs in the Thief, Archer, and Trader trees. While you can take on some minor archetypes fairly easily to gain key abilities with other characters, you should avoid doing this with Heismay in particular, as he requires a lot of archetype XP to complete his goal.
Keep these six archetype families for Heismay in mind as you make your way through the game:
- Thief
- gunner
- Dealer
- Viewfinder
- Knight
- commander
Best archetypes for Junah
As the first of the final three party members, Junah’s work stress is a little more relaxed. They start with their advanced Masked Dancer job and don’t need the same requirements to unlock it as other characters. So ideally you can just stick them in the Faker and Masked Dancer tree for the rest of the game.
Royal Masked Dancer requires Persona Master 20, Trickster 20 and 30,000 MAG. This means that your only obstacle to Junah’s ultimate archetype is your level of attachment as a follower to Junah herself and Alonzo. Make sure you prioritize these early so that Junah isn’t left out of her more demanding tasks for too long. If you have XP to spare with Junah, consider further honing her magical skills with Mage or her rogue skills with Ninja.
Consider these four archetype families for Junah as you move through the game:
- Masked dancer
- Swindler
- magician
- Thief
Best archetypes for Eupha
Eupha is the second to last party member you unlock metaphorand actually only requires leveling two trees: Royal Summoner requires Devil Summoner 20, Soul Hacker 20 and 30,000 MAG. This means you only need to work on Eupha’s extremely powerful Summoner job and the Seeker starting job.
The only real obstacle you have to get Eupha’s ultimate archetype is her retainer bond level. The tricky part, however, is how late in the game you get Eupha. Once you pick her up, you won’t have much free time until the end of the game, so you’ll likely be stuck with her at a low follower level for hours to engage with story content. Try to build your follower loyalty as quickly as possible once you enjoy the precious moments of endgame free time.
Consider these four archetype families for Eupha as you move through the game:
Best archetypes for Basilio
Since Basilio is the last party member you unlock, you only need to complete five archetype jobs to reach his final form. But that’s actually one more task than his other two endgame companions, Eupha and Junah. Royal Berserker requires Destroyer 20, Martial Artist 20 and 30,000 MAGwhich is a bit of a problem if you just consider the raw XP required compared to the amount of things you have to do in the last few weeks of the game.
There are plenty of endgame dungeons you can drag Basilio through before the final boss fight so you can unlock Royal Berserker, but you’ll also need to get his Follower Bond (the last bond you’ll make) and Catherina’s Bond, who’s up against it first Available for a regular visit at the end of the game. To get Basilio where you want to go, make sure you prioritize spending time with him and Catherina, and save some XP fruits to help him with some of his tasks.
Consider these four archetype families for Basilio as you move through the game:
- Berserk
- brawler
- Knight
- warrior
