Steam for all ages New Year's Eve Sale kicks on Thursday evenings, with daily pay, backgrounds and icons for the year, too, and many discounted games.
Some of the most popular PC games of the last few years are for sale, including Call the Spire, Resident Evil 2, Assassin's Cassins Odyssey, again Red Redemption 2. Most downloaded content is for sale; there is even a section of the retail page that raises DLC discounts for games that the user already owns.
As in previous years, customers receive tokens for retail purchases, which can be sold for digital good things such as sticking to influencer conversations and homepage backgrounds and additional discounts. Steam also offers free daily tokens, which work by clicking the red envelope on the sales homepage once a day. (Traditionally, a small red envelope is filled with cash and given to children as gifts during the New Year's Preparation.)
A few other digital gaming PC markets are throwing in their Lunar New Year sales to compete with Steam. Dear, Green Man Gaming, and GOGO they all use the same deals, and both Fanatical and Green Man Gaming have exclusive one-day deals that run throughout the weekend.
This Lunar New Year sale runs through January 27th.
