The RTS genre as we know it, or at least the popular perception of it, is dominated by its most traditional endeavors, the kind of base-then-rush approach that is used in all of Command and conquer to Stars ship. However, this isn’t the only way to play an RTS.
There is Games like Society of Heroes who try things a little bit differently, with more focus on combat than on resources. And then there are games like World in conflict
These games tend to be less popular than their more successful ones Genre colleagues, partly because they are more difficult to play, but also because in the end they are more suitable for serious wargamers than the occasional RTS connoisseur and thanks to the demands they place on the player (control of infantry, armor), can be more difficult to play and air units at once is a headache!). Which probably explains why World in conflict
Here comes Broken arrow but to try again. On the PC it comes from Slitherine, a publisher specializing in strategy / war games. So don’t expect a great cinematic experience with cutscenes like World in conflict. What Broken arrow however, clearly tries to get the tactical experience right, which is shown in this gameplay video below, highlighting how movement and combined weapon operations work in the game:

I am looking forward! I feel like playing this type of game – and I will count Steel department in their ranks in terms of gameplay, if not setting, have always promised so much, but have failed in their execution, which tends to be too hectic to ever give the player full control of the battlefield. This may be an accurate representation of the chaos of war, sure, but these are video games and I want that control, thank you very much.
