A week after a big report from IGN Detailing worrying allegations Workplace culture, crunch, and hiring practices at Bungie, the HR manager of the studio has resigned from her position.
In a company-wide email seen by IGN and on air today, Gayle d’Hondt – who has been in the studio since 2007 – says that in order to overcome the problems it has plagued for years, Bungie needs to “largely” do so with its HR team, comprised of people who are new are at Bungie. “
“I know they have to be trusted to be your advocates – not called ‘enablers’ or considered corporate resources that provide a safe haven for bad actors,” read part of the email before adding, that her time at Bungie was interrupted by “deeply challenging interpersonal conflicts” through to the dismissal of colleagues for “achievement, bad behavior, and discrimination, racism and sexual harassment”.
Shockingly, d’Hondt also mentions her own experiences in the company-wide email and highlights abuse she had suffered from “A man, an executive, and someone I thought was my friend at Bungie – which led to Bungie firing him.”
She ends the email with “I’m proud of the work I’ve done at this company. I believe I have made recommendations that were in the best interests of our employees and the service of the company we want to become. I also think we made some mistakes. In order to become the better version of ourselves – the company I know we can be – we have to recognize and confront it in good faith and grow together. “
