Less than two weeks ago Twitch streamer gv_mimi was struggling to aim her weapon to strike down a guard The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s first shrine. She beat yesterday Thunderbolt Ganon.
With an ocarina controller we should set. And not them ThinkGeek from 2017, either. She uses a custom controller that turns the notes she plays into input for the game, with macros set up to carry out some of the more complicated commands.
Yes, these modified controllers exist, and there is software to map the notes to the controls. Given the long history of using off-the-wall controllers to run Fan Favorite Games
Probably for good reason; Check out this clip of her first shrine. I gave up piano lessons after less punishment than this!
With that frustration fresh in your head, hum a few bars of this throwdown that gv_mimi posted on Wednesday.
I can’t read music or recognize music, but I love that lilting pip-pip-pip-pip when gv_mimi lands a powerful combo. And then the flutter ing sequence where she pulls out Magnesis to finish the job! Followed by disbelief in actually doing the job: “We did it! Oh my God! We made it!”
THAT was one of my hype moments in gaming. I had spent 6 hours the day before learning how to hit him with an ocarina and then finally hitting him yesterday with 2 tries that day felt AMAZING ;-; I’ve played https://t.co/dcNzbulpNL

At the moment gv_mimi is there Fighting a Lynel. There’s more tweeting and tooting in here than in Elon Musk’s bathroom. Tune in when you can, or watch their exploits later. She hopes to hit breath of the wild By the time Tears of the Kingdom starts on May 12th.
Update (April 11): She just killed Calamity Ganon! Lest you think gv_mimi is just blowing in and throwing off, this condensed highlight reel from the stream shows that there are plenty of misses to go along with the hits it lands.
But after persevering in the toughest of the two battles, all that’s left for her to do is the epilogue fight with Dark Beast Ganon, and she’ll have completed that quest about a month before Tears of the Kingdom‘s publication.
