Criterion is hosting a big one day sale on all the films it has in stock and ends Wednesday morning on the US East Coast. The Criterion Collection includes DVD, Blu-ray and multi-disc collections of some of the most valuable and important films. If you’re a film buff or close to someone who considers themselves as one, this is an event you’ll probably want to check out.

The Criterion Collection is huge and there are hundreds of films tied into this deal. It would not do you any good service if you tried to list all suitable movies. There are just too many good ones. So instead I bugged my Polygon staff to tell me which ones they recommend.

note: 4K UHD Blu-rays only work in compatible Blu-ray players. The Xbox Series XXbox One X and the PS5 can play this type of discs, although accordingly wire cutter, they all have flaws that some standalone 4K UHD Blu-ray players lack. The Xbox Series X and One X cannot deliver Dolby Atmos sound via their respective Blu-ray players, while the PS5 cannot play Dolby Atmos sound or Dolby Vision HDR.
