Cillian Murphy doesn't actually appear in the trailer for 28 Years Later

This is an emaciated zombie from the new 28 years later Trailer. It kinda, someway, maybe looks like an emaciated Cillian Murphy, the star of the first film. However, it turns out it's not an emaciated Cillian Murphy. Instead, it's an art dealer who sometimes models and is very, very thin.

The Guardian reported This corrective earlier today, sparking a frenzy of excited fan speculation after the 28 years later The trailer was released earlier this week. The Emaciated Infected is actually played by Angus Neill, whom director Danny Boyle had previously met and remembered for his extremely gaunt physique, rather than the star of last year's summer blockbuster Oppenheimer.

“Danny told me he always had me in mind for the role,” said Neill, who specializes in old master paintings The Guardian. “So we met, hit it off and I agreed to take part. He continued: “On set he has an extraordinary ability to hypnotize you and working with him on the film was a very, very intense experience.”

Murphy's character, however, survived the original 28 days later but was completely MIA from the sequel 28 weeks laterwhich was created by a completely different director and writing team. With Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland teaming up again for the third film, Murphy is believed to be attached to the project, but the current cast, which includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes, has not yet been confirmed.

It's possible that Murphy's role in the film is a secret that will be revealed later, or perhaps his character, a casual bystander in the first film, simply wouldn't make sense if he showed up in the latest virus-driven apocalypse. For now, fans will have to find something else to discuss in the film's disturbing trailer. 28 years later will be released on June 20, 2025.
