f-15 strike eagle, single flight, and three other classic flight simulation games are re-released on Steam. The Thursday announcement from publisher Atari and developer MicroProse also includes three new bundles with many classics from the early days of flight simulation.
First released in 1984 for Atari’s 8-bit video game console, F-15 Strike Eagle is a groundbreaking combat flight simulation game developed by, and later created by, Sid Meier civilization. It was later released for the Apple II and other early PC platforms, as well as the Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy. single flight, on the other hand, is a much more down-to-earth flight sim. It focuses on basic pilot skills including instrumentation and basic navigation. Both games feature mission-based gameplay.
Also in the mix are three more classic flight sims. Harrier jump jet (1992) describes the arcane workings of the complex vertical take-off and landing Harrier jet, including both US and British variants. The Ancient Art of War in the Heavens (1992) focuses on World War I-era actions during Dogfight: 80 years of air warfare (1993) is more of a mix of styles – including what-if scenarios pitting fighter jets from different eras against each other.
Each of the games is sold on Steam for $6.99 each or in one of several bundles. F-15 Strike Eagle and The Ancient Art of War in the Heavens are available now, with single flight, Harier jump jet, and Dogfight: 80 years of air warfare scheduled release next week. Atari tells Polygon that additional titles will be added to purchased bundles as they become available on Steam.
