Wyrmwood Gaming, makers of high-quality gaming accessories and game tables, has been forced to resign almost all of their staff during the outbreak of the coronavirus. However, it goes a long way with the popular and disrespectful YouTube series called The beast. What once was a way to connect with its fanbase has become a window into the reality of trying to keep a small business alive during the epidemic.
The broadcast series, which started broadcasting in September 2018, just started its 4th season last week. Episode 1 is titled "Paid for All People."
The Massachusetts-based company started life as a small wooden studio, which used Kickstarter to build a fund for building dice chairs, towing machines, and dice towers. It has since grown into a business with a large number of employees. Now it sounds like it's holding up a bit.
There were cameras when its co-founder, Douglas Costello, announced that Wyrmwood would cease operating normally due to new requirements for public deviation. Episode 2 takes the show on the road with a bold plan to use a skeleton crew to keep projects going on in remote, personalized locations around Massachusetts. The latest product line is called Home Collection
"As a company, we owe it to ourselves, our employees and our community to take precautionary measures to avoid spreading the disease itself," said Wyrmwood. in a statement on its website. "But at this point, many of us are turning to the game community in a familiar and comfortable way – even if we change the way we come together, we still come together.
Now included in the Homebrew collection is the Shield of Protection. Each shoe is designed by one of the craftsmen in their home, and is made of random Wyrmwood wood. A portion of each sale will be diverted to support COVID-19 relief efforts. https://t.co/w14FXEplAo pic.twitter.com/FkMz3JljvF
