In front Unite Pokémon, I didn’t care about the Pokémon called Cramorant.
The bird-like flying water type was found in. released Pokémon sword and shield, and except for a fun gimmick where Pikachu wore it, nothing really attracted me.
But now it is clear to me: Cormorant, whoops, I mean CRAM-orant, the Pokémon whose namesake comes from the combination of a real water bird species the idea of stuff “spasming” down its throat is absolutely terrifying. It’s called the “swallowing Pokémon” for a reason – the creature has an intertwined shape that canonically carry an entire Pikachu down its throat. According to the official Pokédex entry from Pokémon sword
So it’s no wonder that this Pokémon is the competition on the Unite Pokémon Arena. Unite Pokémon is the new MOBA-style game from The Pokémon Company and Tencent Games. At the start of each match, players can choose from a roster of Pokemon-inspired fighters for a 5v5 match.
After looking at a number of impressive options of possible characters that I could unlock with my hard-earned Aeos coins – Lucario, Absol, to name a few – I took one look at this dummy and immediately knew it was the fighter for me was. All I had to do was read a few tips and watch a video or two on wearing with Cramorant and off I went to the races.
This terrible bird absolutely wipes out the competition. Regardless of whether it is mythical or borderline legendary Pokémon like Lucario or Zeraora, Cramorant surfs through the competition. It’s so powerful that it reduces the franchise mascot Pikachu and the barracuda Pokémon Arrokuda to a mere projectile that it fires at opponents.
In one fight, I fought Zapdos alone and severely reduced his health while waiting for the rest of the team to arrive. If this were standard Pokémon logic, the water and flight type would have no chance against a legendary electrotype and like Zapdos. However in Unite Pokémon there are no elementary weaknesses. Anarchy prevails, and my Cramorant is on top of the pile.
All I’m waiting for now is a big stupid outfit to put on my big stupid bird. There are currently no cosmetic options for the cramorant.
